  1. My BenQ (DW1620) burns Verbatim 2.4x +R DL blanks (MKM001) at 4X. Just FYI...
  2. I find it a bit strange that the USA bother to enter if everyone's so disinterested in it. I also find it strange that while the World Cup involves nearly the whole world (including America), the World Series only seems to involve North America. Seems a weird use of the term "World"...
  3. When I first read Shamus's post I thought he'd called you an old tart - I thought, "how does he know you so well...?" Anyway, tart or fart, have a good one mate
  4. Your firmware is way out of date. The latest is BYX5, yours is BY02. Update to the latest one here: http://sony.storagesupport.com/dvdrw/downl...5/710A_BYX5.zip And see if that improves things. Also, let us know the Disc ID of the blanks you're using (e.g. CMC MAG-D01-00).
  5. So, presumably the player will need to be connected to the net before you can play a disc? Bollocks to that!
  6. Not sure if the Gelth will be back, but apparently there are ghosts of some sort. One will be working in the Queen Vic with Peggy Mitchell, and one will be appearing on Trisha's chat show.
  7. I agree with you db. The Doctor Dances was a naff title. But it was a cracking episode. When I first saw Boom Town I thought it fell a bit flat. But on re-watching it, it was a much better episode, for the reasons you say. The season finale is excellent too, once they get the gameshow stuff out of the way. Talking of season finales, I have it on good authority (a BBC Wales source) that the Daleks and the Cybermen are both back in this season's finale...
  8. Yes, the Cybermen are back in the episodes 12 and 13. Along with a black Dalek (and possibly more) or the Gelth gas creatures.
  9. What did you think of the Big Finish Sapphire & Steel stuff? Oh, and there's a big Cyberman on the cover of the BBC's TV guide...
  10. What! The US got a "Doctor Who" story before the UK!!! Scandalous! Good news about Eccleston and The Prisoner. I don't have Sky, but I know a man who does... Also, ITV (The BBC's main terrestrial rival) are apparently remaking one of their own sci-fi classics, Sapphire & Steel, which I used to like.
  11. The helmets look much better in real life I just listened to the "Spare Parts" audio adventure, which the Cybermen two-parter is (loosely?) based. It was excellent. Really looking forward to the episodes. Tooth and Claw was quite good - very fast and quite scary. The werewolf was good. Some of the dialogue was annoying though. School Reunion was better. Both Liz Sladen and K9 were brilliant. If you wanted to see them, I'm sure it could be arranged somehow...
  12. Just over a week till the first Cybermen episode!!!
  13. Good choice db. It was one of my favourites too. And there's wasn't a Dalek in sight either... But it was a well-written, well-acted, and thought-provoking episode. I too wondered about the Doctor saying that Rose's Dad could live, but I think at that point the Tardis had already started to re-materialise, so time was already starting to be fixed, even with the anomaly of Rose's Dad still being alive. Incidentally, Rose's Dad appears in the upcoming Cyberman episodes, as it's set on an alternate Earth. If you enjoyed Father's Day, I think you'll like the two-parter starting next week. Zombies in gas masks roaming around wartime London. But apart from that, it's really well-written and acted, and quite scary...
  14. The new DW episode (3) on tonight stars K9. And Elisabeth Sladen! I found the first 2 episodes a bit disappointing, but am looking forward to "School Reunion".
  15. Rose. It was filmed in Wales by BBC Wales
  16. Yes, AOL/WW3 was great fun. But if they'd just nuked the planet themselves, then there wouldn't have been much of a story. Plus the Slitheen family liked a bit of hunting, so I guess they fancied slaughtering a few humans along the way. Tonight's episode, Dalek is excellent, althought not really "fun". What will they cut? The bit about "canoodling her spoon..." Did you watch the montage I posted...?
  17. There was a new 3-minute montage shown on BBC Interactive yesterday, with loads of new clips. Quite of few of Sarah Jane, K9, and the Cybermen. I made an (XviD/DivX) avi of it for anyone interested... http://www.mytempdir.com/594129
  18. I absolutely refuse to join in with these puns...
  19. db, I presume you've seen the trailer for season (series) 2... http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/ram/bb/trail2006_16x9_bb.asx
  20. And I know now not to go in a round with the Cybermen!!! But, the other day, my local BBC news show aired some clips from episode 1 of the new series. They looked stunning. The new series starts two weeks from now, and I can't wait!!! But I must admit, I'm most looking forward to Rise of the Cybermen/The Age of Steel two-parter...
  21. The series 1 DVD boxset came out in the UK just before christmas. Next week's episode is the first of a two-parter. It's not very sophisticated, but it's great fun, and a real adventure-type story. A bit too much farting in it, though...
  22. Well, Doctor Who with ads is not new to me. UK Gold shows them, along with other BBC shows. And the breaks do seem un-natural when you've seen them uninterrupted first time around. But anyway, what did you think of the zombies? I don't think you'd seen that episode before. Well, okay, they weren't quite zombies, but unquiet dead people. Pretty close though...
  23. Well, if the licence fee-abolishers get their way, then that's what we'll have Exterminate, exterminate... (and now a word from our sponsors) ...exterminate Long live the (ad-free) BBC
  24. Also, reading the boards at the scifi website, it seems to have gone down well with the people there, both new viewers as well as people who'd seen the classic series. Having seen a few episodes in their full, uninterrupted glory, how did you find the ad-infested versions...?
  25. Have a look at the FAQ: http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=59
