  1. I tried cleaning (with camera lens cleaner) and that soon killed the player/burner completely as it wouldn't even read. :whistling: Found a refurbished player/burner for my laptop and all is back to normal. :teehee:

  2. Actually I've been having the same problem with the latest version, for this example, thinking it may make a difference, I used ImgBurn portable. I'll try a good cleaning.

Lighening UK thanks for your help and and all the software you've developed over the years.

  3. Although I had a few successes after I disabled the driver, this may or not be related to the problem I had when I had Daemon Tools Lire installed. I've since uninstalled DT and although I tried removing the driver, it appears the Duplex Secure tool only disables it. In order to view iso's I installed DVD Fab VirtualDrive.

Anyway, on to the problem I've been having for quite some time. ImgBurn hangs up at 10%. Using Verbatim DVD-R 16x

  4. Alcohol 52% uses the SPTD, I know that much. But, I've not had any problems with my burns with it installed, though.

You could try SlySoft's Virtual CloneDrive. I believe it's the software LUK uses (Though, I'm not sure of that.) and it's freeware like Alcohol 52%. I don't know, though, if it uses SPTD or not.

    Thanks

I'd like to use another free program to mount iso rather than abling, disabling the driver but I'm real tired of experimenting. I may try your suggestion at a later date.

BTW, if it matters I have XP Pro and a Phillips CD/DVD RW SDVD 8820 with the latest firmware.

  5. I tried installing PowerIso and didn't get any any warnings from ImgBurn but had the same bad results in which the program hung up around 10%. Uninstalling with Revo Uninstaller (advanced mode) didn't help in another attempt to burn. I then did a system restore which got me back Daemon Tools. I then re-disabled the driver and all appears to be well again.

If anyone else uses Daemon Tools and needs this work around here are the directions to disable Duplex Secure's driver...

A: If your system has some problems with SPTD installation you can do as follows:

If your system is already running then go to step 2 directly. Otherwise start from step 1.

Step 1. Boot in safe mode and press ESC key when you see on bottom line of display: "Press ESC to cancel loading SPTD.sys". This will abort loading of SPTD layer.

Step 2. Find "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\ Services\sptd" registry key in REGEDIT and set DWORD Start value to 4 (i.e. disabled).

Step 3. Reboot again in normal mode and check if your issue is solved.

To reenable SPTD restore the DWORD Start value back to '0' and reboot your computer.

If you want to remove the driver completely...

A: To remove SPTD, simply download SPTD setup file "SPTDinst-v174-x86.exe" for Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista (32-bit) [596,536 bytes] and execute it.

In dialog that appears press "Uninstall" button and then SPTD will remove itself from your Windows installation.

If you want to install it again then execute the same setup file and press "Install".

  6. Apparently the SPTC driver that comes with Daemon Tools lite has been screwing up my DVD burns. Since uninstalling DT and then disabling Duplex Secures driver all is well again.

Do the other virtual drive programs such as PowerIso have the same driver?

    TIA

  7. Hi, not sure what's going on but I've been recently having problems burning DVD's

    W 12:16:06 Retrying (22)...

W 12:16:06 Retry Failed - Reason: Cannot Write Medium - Incompatible Format

    E 12:16:09 Failed to Write Sectors 246272 - 246303 - Reason: Write Error

    I 12:16:09 Synchronising Cache...

E 12:16:20 Failed to Write Image!

Included is an error pop up from a different try. They seem to be stopping abound 10-12%

    Any suggestions?

  8. It's a great proggie Hiker.

I'm sure it is, and it looks simple enough to configure but I had problems with two attempts. Using the beta version both encoded, burnt, and played but the menu with episodes was missing. I'll be away for a week or so and will try again on return.

    Thanks.

  9. I have a number of .avi files that I was able to place together on a DVD using ImgBurn and play using VLC. The problem is, each has to played manually.

Ideally what I'd like is to have a menu with chapters or play all.

What would I need (a free program if there is one) and how would I do it?

  10. ...is there a way to burn the 2 DVD movie to one disk?

    Not with ImgBurn, no.

This procedure isn't anything to do with ImgBurn or burning in general really!

Search Google and maybe you'll find your answers.

Bummer! I suppose I can afford two DVD's. L-UK, thanks for the program, it's been working fine. I'll PayPal a small donation.

  11. Sorry if this has been covered before...

A friend of mine made a DVD movie and send me a copy. It's on two DVD's and I've used DVD Shrink to reduce their size by 50%. Each has a menu which I also copied. Since I've only used ImgBurn a couple times (beginner!) burning one video at a time to it's own DVD, is there a way to burn the 2 DVD movie to one disk?
