You know, I was disappointed when some of my favourite freewares & essential "free" software began to be provided via installers which included agreements with these 3rd party "terror"-wares. However, when it came to independent freeware providers (who had long had a "donate" button on their webpage), my disappointment was more with those tens of thousands (or more) of users of the software who use it frequently & could painlessly donate. I don't burn discs as often as I have in the past, but I still use ImgBurn a lot & I feel it may be time for me to make a small donation again - despite being a disabled, single parent widower! Sometimes freeware begins as a "hobby" that the programmer starts in their youth but, if that software grows into a lengthy success story, it would be ridiculous to expect the developer/s to keep providing their precious time, their life, to the project ad infinitum with no other reward than a "thank you" (& sometimes not even that)! If ImgBurn users really want to get rid of the 3rd party installer - here's a thought - HIT the DONATE BUTTON!! By the way, there's always a way to opt-out of 3rd party apps in the installer. Those who can't work it out....hmmmm....!!! EDIT: The criticisms are not directed at the Original Poster! (I realise that it was a simple accident which resulted in the install of the 3rd party apps).

I have a feeling that Trend Micro is being too aggressive or there is a temporary security/certificate oversight by techspot. If you have any doubts just go over to www.techspot.com & you'll see it's a conventional, long running & trusted website. However, if Trend has got you scared of techspot then you can safely visit any website via a sandboxed browser using the excellent Sandboxie software (free for this sort of basic use). I should warn you that Trend is likely to have a problem with Sandboxie as well though! Anti-virus/anti-malware programs do need to be temporarily disabled occasionally, as none of them has been built to cope with every possible situation/scenario & I consider many of them to be malware in their own right!

I'm not exactly sure why so many seem to have difficulty installing ImgBurn without co-installing the 3rd-party "adware", but it did not present a challenge to me when I recently installed version 2.5.8.0! Attached to this post are 3 screen grabs of the part of the install which seems to be contentious. They show the correct procedure for installing the bit you want (ImgBurn application) whilst dismissing the 3rd-party "adware" "bloatware" "crapware" - whatever you wish to call it! VERY SIMPLE: When you are presented with an option for installing ANYTHING, other than the initial ImgBurn, just select "Custom installation" and un-check (un-tick) any Check-Box below. During this stage, after un-checking the boxes, a notice appeared below stating: "Leaving all the boxes unchecked will not install anything." Perhaps this is confusing people. I assure you, the ONLY thing that won't be installed is the offending "software". Just click "Next" & ImgBurn WILL be installed, nice-&-clean! Of course, it is possible to unpack the ImgBurn installer (as it is with most programs) but I would dare to suggest that if you're bright enough to do that, then you're bright enough to run through the provided installer normally & choose the obvious options to "opt out" of 3rd-party offers. Maybe if a few more people chose to donate for this excellent software, it wouldn't be necessary to collaborate with 3rd-parties at all. I install, or provide an install disc of, brilliant freeware like ImgBurn to my customers' computers, & I also encourage them verbally, or through a "readme", to donate to those people who spend their valuable time creating & perfecting the kind of software that is so useful & widespread that we take for granted - FOR FREE! I have only just joined this forum, but I am truly shocked at some of the abuse & ignorant anger which has been directed towards ImgBurn's creator.

Hello all, I joined the forum to post about a tiny bug recently, but I also saw a few posts that I thought I could add something useful to &, since I was now a member, I attempted a reply. However, I don't seem to have privilege to respond to anything! I unsuccessfully tried to find any forum rules defining such limitations. Is there a waiting period or a post-count requirement involved? Just curious. Thanks!

I have been using ImgBurn for a very long time & this is my first problem EVER! And, it is only a very minor issue. I was using an older version of ImgBurn but upgraded to the latest, just to ensure this issue hadn't already been corrected in the meantime. The issue is this: When ImgBurn shortens a long Folder-name to 64 characters, to comply with Joliet, if the character in the 64th position is a "space" then the new Folder-name, which is written to the disc, will end in a space! This creates a problem with stupid Windows Explorer which becomes so confused, at the folder whose name finishes with "space", that it will not open it with a double-click nor "Explore" it (within a right-click menu). I actually have to paste the location & folder-name into the Address bar (finishing with a back-slash) to get Windows Explorer to open it! I am not certain how, or if, this is a problem for long File-names. I have not tested the implications for File-names. Whether this causes problems for Folders &/or Files is likely OS dependent. As I said, not a big deal really. Just a bit annoying. On the other hand, I have to say that ImgBurn is an excellent piece of extremely useful & versatile software, and is not written in the lazy bloated way that we find with so much of today's software! ImgBurn has never failed me & I frequently recommend it to others (& encourage them to Donate, should they find it as useful as I).
