Fitted replacement drive (Pioneer) earlier and it successfully copied 6.2 Gb file on the disc successfully written by the laptop. ImgBurn also successfully verified the disc in the new drive. Neither of these actions were successful with the old LG drive, now awaiting return. As far as I'm concerned, the LG drive is defective and that has been the cause of my burn issues. When I come to burn dual layer dic next, I expect a successful burn.

Drive is connected as the previous one - same cabling. It burns normal single layer DVDS fine. I think that's all that can be reasonably expected of the user so it's being returned as defective. Desktop has the same AV software (Defender) as the laptop so that seems unlikley. I declined the offer of a replacement of the same model for obvious reasons, I am glad I bought it from Amazon because there's no big drama about it.

Burned same iso file on my Dell laptop using ImgBurn - both burn and verification were successful. I even copied the 6.2 Gb file from the newly burned DVD to the hard drive of my laptop. Furthermore, the disc used was one of the cheapos - AOne plus/Richoh. Took the disc back to my desktop PC and tried copying the 6.2 Gb file to my hard drive - failed at around 4Gb just as it did verifying. Checked the original Verbatim disc on the laptop - again failed around 4Gb (to copy) so it looks like a limitation read and write of the exusting LG drive in my desktop PC. The hard drives in question here are not FAT32 and don't have a size limiatation, so it's not that. In fact, on the laptop 6.2 Gb was successfully copied and my desktop PC folder that I've used also has the original 8Gb iso file. The DVD drive is new. Amazon will refund, hopefully.

Further to my earlier issues with DL discs, I have now tried Verbatim discs as the problem was being attributed to cheap discs. Alas, there has been no success either with the Verbatim discs, Same check condition error when verifying after what seemed to be a successful burn. Despite this, the 2 video files seem to have been written complete to the disc. ??? Correcction: The files being written successfully was illusional. I tried to copy to hard drive but the copy failed at 4GB or so,

Thanks for the advice re choice of discs.It all seems to lack reiiability and robustness, unlike single layer discs - I rarely have a problem with those.

Just tried at 4X - failed even earlier at 26%!

Thanks again for your help. It's baffling how they manufacture and sell discs that aren't up to what they're supposed to do.

Not building DVDs, just storing files so no VIDEO_TS folder. Oddly, the disc verified ok and then the file showed properly in Explorer. Thanks for the help - I'm not convinced I've solved my issues though - so many ruined discs. Maybe just cheap discs?

Attempted to burn a DL disc earlier with a single file as content. All actually seemed to go well but my disc shows the file as 0 bytes. How do I get this window to appears as shown in the guide? When trying to create a DL disk, I click on the calculator button as descibed but i never get the layer break choice window. The disc then seems to burn halfway before failing iwth a 'check condition' error. So many coasters, so few discs ...
