  1. sorry i should have posted the full specs lol.. ecs kv2 extreme lite edition v1.0 which has only 2 sata ports both controled by the vt8237 southbridge. but this pioneer 112d seems to be a lot better than the 111d i owned..i think i just had 1 of those drives that wasnt faulty enough to take it back but wasnt 100% enough to give satisfactory burns..i had friends able to burn blank dvd's using the same burner as me..blanks which would fail in mine..although they allways failed at the layer break which i know from experience was due to cheap nasty media..when i used verbatims i could burn 100% with no coasters..so like i say not bad enough to rma but not good enough to say it was a good burner.. the 112d on the other hand has so far burnt everything i have thrown at it and burnt it well.. so alls well that ends well lol..i have a new burner that i am very happy with and my pc has been wiped clean to give it a new lease of life that i would have otherwise put off as long as humanly possible..
  2. it isnt sis its via..and yes its onboard.. i have allready updated..was first thing i did..it came with 1.21 and 1.22 was available..still didnt do any good with cheapo crap though lol..ive had this tub of 50 for over 8 months lol..i'll find a burner 1 day that will do them..
  3. it was a kv2 extreme..anyway i took it back and myself a 112d pioneer IDE after destroying my xp instalation with the 203b i decided to update my via hyperions in case it was that..after that i got 2 instances of everything and all my drives showed as cd-rom..so i removed them from add remove programs..on reboot it decided to remove all my sata stuff inc Microsoft i think as it wouldnt boot..i couldnt boot into safe mode..normal mode etc as the xp instalation was on a sata hdd :-( i tried all sorts and nothing worked..i could get a little further with each hour that passed till eventualy i knew it would just be quicker to wipe the damn thing..so i wiped it and on a fresh install i installed via hyperion an violla same damn thing lol..so wiped it again and took it back and swapped it for a pioneer 112d.. very good burner it is to..and didnt mess my windows up lol trying some cheapo disks now and i gues it doesnt like them lol..burns 100% but fails the verify at layer break .i kinda expected it anyway as i generaly only use verbatims..
  4. your telling me theres probs..i have onboard via 8237..i dont even have a serial ata controller..i have tried installing several different versions of hyperion and via 4 in 1..i have used the cd that came with the mobo..i get results varying from no compatible hardware found to the pc hanging..i think i need to reformat :-(
  5. i have just bought a new samsung sata sh-203b DL burner.. i have just burnt my first disk with imgburn..strange thing is my hdd is sata and the burner is sata..i have 1 gig of ram and a decent 64 bit processor..is it normal for the buffer to keep dropping and the device buffer to keep dropping? even though i am only burning at 2.4x. once the drive gets to around 25% the buffer stays at 100% but devoce buffer is constantly dropping up and down.. it might be normal i dont know but it seems strange that the buffer would drop burning at 2.4 especialy as sata..i think i'd be concered if it was ide but seems very strange..then again it could be normal i dont know..
  6. was pure luck lol..i had been trying different ways to burn DL on the fly..none of the software seemed to work so i started to update things and still no luck..alcohol 120% was my last resort so i got latest version..as it was installing i thought i dont even need a virtual drive..i never mount anything anyway so i'd install with the minimum it needed..but again it wouldnt copy on the fly..so i tried imgburn/dvd decryptor method again..and since uninstalling the virtual drive i havent had a single fail on verification..i'll keep everyone posted anyway just in case anyone else has the same problems as i did..
  7. well i think i found the culprit.. i uninstalled alcohol 120% and instaled latest version but disabled the virtual drive..so far 5 outta 5 all verified 100% maybe a virtual drive conflict? is this a known bug?
  8. well if ya cant help with imgburn maybe you could help me with this
  9. ok ran mem test for 20 mins and its all fine.. the LBA is in different positions every burn as stated before..23%..60% all different places (check the last 2 logs all 3 different LBA positions). but after rescanning a failed to verify disk the error on the disk no matter how many times its scanned is in the the same place..1 error in the same LBA address. i dont know wether its the burn with the error or the iso..i'm thinking of upgrading pc anyway and that would require a reformat anyway.if that doesnt cure it i dunno what will lol..as stated before they are also new cables...that was my first step in troubleshooting..that and resetting the ide controllers to make sure i was in udma 4 got a failed to verify disk and rescanned..and same single error in exactly same place.. 10. so whats your opinion on where the erros are occuring? in the ripping stage or the burning stage..eg is the error in the iso or the burnt dvd..and is there a way of verifying a on the fly copy then i can eliminate the hdd alltogether
  11. this is just something i have allways done..being a long term member and helper of cdfreaks i know that this is just good practice..the force aspi are the most stable and widely supported..i know a lot of burning problems come from via/nforce ide controllers when to be hones the MS provided ide controllers are quite sufficient.. the only other tip i have come accross that i didnt know of myself was the cd burning service in windows but havent looked into that yet scanned c: and passed on files indexes security desciptors usn jornol then did a full sector scan and i have no bad sectors either.. its a strange 1
  12. as you can see both are gamename.dvd format..that is from otiginal game ripped with a kreon drive. the lst 1 i did as a test to get a log (thanks lfcrule1972 for the log info) was a backup of a backup ripped with dvddecrypter in the format xbox360.iso and that passed..it may just be originals it fails on but i'd have to check through a lot of logs.. i could not find verbatims in my local town and had to try other DL media (what a mistake lol) and had over 50 failed burns with ricohjpn dye..my burner 111d just doesnt like them and i had 75 blanks of them by all different manufacturers lol..oh well ya live and learn

  15. i didnt have a log to hand..so i just reburnt a game and would ya believe it. it didnt fail ths time lol..so thats 7 outta 10..they are too expensive to just burn any ld rubbish to lol.. the second i have 1 that fails i will post the results here..but then again that was a copy of a copy..i think it may be the way 360 games have security sectors etc that may be why its failing to verify as these are from original games that i own..NOT i repeat NOT downloaded ones etc so they have all the security sectors still in..it might just be coincidence that original 360 games fail to verify but a backup of a backup passes..but untill i get a log i'll reserve any judgement.. thanks to everyone so far..especialy lightning UK (no offence kev driver lol) its not often you get the authors of the software itself helping in forums..keep up the good work i'm very happy with imgburn on SL and hopefully DL soon lol
