  1. hi i recently tried adding different ibf/vob files together to create a new copy of mixed video files from different sources.

i created a video_ts folder in my desktop. i then opened up different sources i had copied and added files from each to the folder. it goes well, except it won't accept the same numbered files in the same folder, even though the file is a totally different one.

if you could find a way to make these files co-exist in the same video_ts folder to then build or burn w/imgburn that would be awesome. i guess you would have to manipulate imgburn so that it won't reject same numbered files w/different footage.

  2. ImgBurn burns as-is.

If you want a DVD Video disc you need to feed it DVD Video files (IFO/VOB/BUP etc) in 'Build' mode - or give it a properly formatted DVD Video ISO image in 'Write' mode.

An ISO is a disc image hence no conversion would ever need to take place - it's already in the format it's supposed to be in (whatever that might be).

You can queue up ISO image files to burn in Write mode but you can't queue up normal files/folders to burn in Build mode.

lighting, excuse the delay in responding w/results. it took a bit, but now i understand build mode better and have been using it almost extensively for all my burning.

i'm learning queue now. i'll post any ? if necessary, which will most likely be the case.

thnx for your help. always appreciated.

lightning, just reporting. i followed your guide on creating the folders w/in the folders and now eveything's much simpler just like you said. i could use it to build or burn directly to disc. takes some time to learn all the goodies imgburn has to offer, but it's worth it.

  4. If you add the files you just need to click 'Yes' to tell it you're building a dvd video disc.

Don't try and over complicate the boxes that pop up, they're normally just asking a simple question that you should already know the answer to (i.e. are you trying to build a dvd video disc?).

hi lightning. i saw on your imgburn website that you upgraded imgburn, but that it created some issues w/something else. what is the latest version? is it still 2.3.2.0? the pop up boxes i get don't mention anything about dvd video disc. they say something along the way about "you've only selected files... is the folder ... the root folder? otherwise the folder will be present in the menu..." if they do say what i just quoted, even when i click yes, what i get is the files on my dvd player which i have to open the first 1 in order for the movie to start . if you changed that pop up box in a new version then i have to get your new version. otherwise the only way i've been able to build is by browsing for the vts folder, selecting it, building it and then burning the iso.

i'm trying too keep it as simple as possible. i do see though that many of us have the same difficulty in respect to build mode.

any elaboration or extra suggestion on this is appreciated as always.

  5. I had a lot of problems with it at first(got lucky guessing the right answers)

    Cornholio wrote a beginners guide

    hi chewy,

i found out that in build mode building the vts folder is the sure fire way to make the iso that'll just show up as the original source in play back. what i do now is browse for the folder instead of browsing for the files. i'll play w/it some more and also check out cornholio's guide again. i haven't hit the link that you gave me here so i don't know whether or not it's the same as the original guide posted here in the forum.

  6. i still don't really get the build mode function. what happens most of the time is it copies the folder also and when i go play it on my dvd player the folder shows up and i have to open it up there also in order to watch the movie. a couple of times i was able to put the copy straight in my dvd player and the movie would start playing w/out showing the folder. what's the correct way to use build mode so as not to copy the folder and just get the movie to show up and then play in my dvd player? yes i understand that imgburn burns as is, so help me in build mode to make an .iso that will contain the video files alone w/out the folder? thnx. that pop up that says whether or not the folder is the root source also throws me off. in either case i usually end up copying some folder anyway.

  7. hi guys, just wanted to get the correct info regarding build mode in imgburn. do all the files and, or folders that you build have to be iso's already in your pc or w/e computer we use? from recent experience w/build mode, imgburn will build w/e's in my pc and then burn it, but unless it's already an iso or in vts audio, or video in my hard drive it won't play in most dvd players because of the format it comes in when doing it that way. my player plays just about everything, but that's not the case for others. also, is there a way i can add several or all the files i want to build at one time instead of one at a time? if i can please give me your best suggestions in doing it. it'll not only save me time ,but it'll also save me from adding the same file as some files come from the same folder.

  8. i keep forgetting imgburn is just as it name suggests, an image burner. i have built and burned copies straight from a media source, but the copies come out as vts folders. now i don't have a problem viewing these as my dvd player accepts just about every format out there. however, others don't support every format. now i realize what the build mode is all about. lord, i have to admit it's been right in front of me all the time concerning imgburn, it's features, and the guides that come with it. i'm slow sometimes, but i get there.

  9. ok. i could use imgburn for basically about anything i do w/some other programs. i would like to know how in build mode i can add the files i want w/out omitting them or including the ones i don't want. ie. i can't tell whether the files i want contain the material i want to add in build mode just by looking at the files in their folder or source. basically w/out breaking any of the forum rules, how can i distinguish which files make up the main title of a source i want to build and then burn? is there a way of doing this w/imgburn w/out the help of another program which selects the main title, creates an iso, n then having to burn it w/imgburn? in other words if i could avoid using another program by using imgburn alone for the same thing i'd rather do that.

  10. When you put the 2nd disc in the drive, what does it say in the statusbar? If the 'insert next disc' message is left to go away automatically, the drive must think it's ready (and imgburn has noticed this). For it then to say it's NOT ready, the drive must be resetting itself or something odd like that.

Any chance you could post a log?

Once it's failed on the 2nd disc, leave it to go back to the main screen and watch what the statusbar says. Does it ever become 'ready' again?

HI LIGHTNING. everything's good w/this now. i just have to put second disc in and just wait until drive is ready, then just leave it alone and it'll do the auto-burn lovely. thanks.

  11. hi guys. imgburn's great. no problem until decided to make more than 1 copy. after 1st 1 is done it ejects the tray and asks for another writable media. i put the other blank in and press ok, or just let it go to automatic and either way i get a pop-up saying that media's not present or that my drive needs to be checked. i have no problem making 1 copy and then starting over and writing another 1, but when trying to use the multiple copies setting it won't go through. let me know if there's a method you guys recommend so i could resolve this issue. my burner's ok. i've checked it and the firmware is up to date.

  12. Use ImgBurn in Read mode to make an ISO image from that DVD, then switch to Write mode to burn that ISO image to another DVD. This creates a perfect copy of the original DVD.

hi. this is exactly what i've been dealing with. Imgburn is great especially when burning an ISO file. i also have windows xp. i know how to use the read and then write mode, however most of my videos need to be shrunk. i have shrnk 3.2 n that works beautifully. it creates ISO files. i also have 1click but it doesn't create ISO files. it creates the VIDEO_TS folder w/the vob, bup, and ifo files. i've converted this into an ISO file using Imgburn 1 time but it takes too long. anything i can do to save the copy using 1click as an ISO? if not what's the fastest way 2 convert into an ISO file using IMgburn. lastly if 1click can't make ISO file what freeware or other software can u recommend i use to shrnk and create ISO files.
