  1. Also how to I see if I have these JMicron drivers, all I see under SATA and IDE controllers are either MS or VIA drivers, should I try and download and install them? These 965 chipsets seem to be having serious issues with the IDE
  2. I managed to flash the BIOS, I think (Used a winflash tool) Still nothing. I was unaware the 112d had CD burning issues so that could very well be the case. I have some Verb single layers I could coaster a few trying that out, almost out of DLs. As far as the setup goes, it's the only optical drive I have. It's set to master, connected straight to the power supply and at the end of the IDE cable. I've tried making it a slave and using the middle of the cable, and have even replaced the cable. All to no avail. I'll give the single layers a shot and let you guys know. EDIT - Same exact error with the verbatim single layers
  3. Wow so it seems they are trying to phase out the IDE hence my problems... however I'm required to have a FLOPPY drive to upgrade my BIOS to fix a problem of matured technology by using ancient technology. That makes sense.
  4. Oddly I just saw the same 2 things. While googling the heck out of this I saw I had my IDE cable in wrong, blue to the mobo, grey to the slave and black to the master. I fixed it got excited, and it still didn't work, then I went back to the mobo site the chipset thing I DLed I thought was a BIOS update, now I see my error and found the real BIOS patch for VT6410 which I think is exactly what I need. So I DLed it and it's a .bst file so as soon as I figure out how to flash the BIOS with no floppy or burning capabilities I think the problem will have been solved...
  5. If it wasn't for the fact that I can't even burn a CD I would be leaning towards the media myself, but that threw me for a loop. Here's some screenies. The driver tab for the Master IDE controller says Driver Provider: Microsoft Driver Date: 6/21/2006 Driver Version: 6.0.6000.16391 Digital Signer: microsoft.windows I realize this has gone well beyond any imgburn issues and really do appreciate the help!
  6. Okay I know thats a useful statement but I don't understand it, not that savvy =( So the way I have my optical hooked to the mobo isnt supported? And I need to look for drivers to allow that connection to work? Are they called IDE drivers or something along those lines? Forgive my ignorance. Also not sure if this would help as well, didn't notice we could upload. I also haven't tried anything above x2.4 I'll give that a shot.
  7. Not sure if this is important... Is it necessary to select a region for the DVD burner, that I haven't done yet, but I don't think I did in the past either
  8. Okay I built the PC myself, the mobo is a BIOSTAR TForce965PT LGA 775 Intel P965 Express ATX Intel Motherboard, I don't really know anything after that as far as IDE and SATA goes. Its the only spot on the mobo for the flat ribbon cable to connect to then straight to the 112d same with the SATA from the only spot on the mobo to the HD. as far as drivers they'd be standard, I haven't messed with any of that, and my bios is up to date. I have everything set to auto in BIOS as far as detection goes, and the drive can read DVDs just fine. In My Computer it comes up as Pioneer 112d DVD R and runing the analyzer in imgburn I have checks in all the right places i.e. DVD R DL read and write and whatnot
  9. Came with the 1.21 firmware so it didnt need to install it. Ive tried removing it and restarting the process all over, nothing. I can't seem to figure this DMA stuff out either. Even with no optical drives virtual or otherwise, it still says 2 devices supported, 1 seems to be my samsung harddrive set up as SATA and it seems that defaults to DMA Ultra mode 5 for some reason. When I uncheck to disable that DMA the PC doesnt boot. This is all very confusing to me.
  10. Okay after having 2 burners crap out on me recently (now Im not so sure they're broken) I ordered a 112d from newegg. No successful burns on images. Im using Vista, and checked the DMA, I have 3 channel 0 ATAs and 3 channel 1 ATAs the first 2 channel 0s have DMA enabled, one says mode 5 second one says mode 4 (cdrom) Is it maybe a configuration or pin setting issue? Here's my log... I've coastered atleast 10 verbs this month and I'll kill a kitten before I loose another... help? (I hope it's not a bad batch.) EDIT - I have the updated firmware 1.21 EDIT Again - Okay I changed my pin to slave just to check. Now the first ATA channel 0 has nothing listed, the second channel 0 has Device: ATA disk with DMA mode 5, and the 3rd channel 0 has Device: ATAPI cdrom with DMA mode 4, which is enabled, but when I select the line that says ATAPI cdrom the check box clears itself, then greys out making it uncheckable, so then I hit cancel. I'm far from an expert but this seems weird to me. ANY help is greatly appreciated. I 11:07:31 ImgBurn Version 2.3.2.0 started! I 11:07:31 Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium Edition (6.0, Build 6000) I 11:07:31 Total Physical Memory: 2,096,064 KB - Available: 1,358,368 KB I 11:07:31 Initialising SPTI... I 11:07:31 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices... I 11:07:31 Found 1 DVD-ROM and 1 DVD
