  1. I wouldn't say I can't use the burner. Works ok when burning files directly from Vista. Haven't tried with any other image burning apps. Also, I can get it to more or less work under ImgBurn using incremental mode, although it does seem to hang the app at the end.

edit: motherboard is Asus pk5 deluxe wifi. It has two on-board SATA controllers; the Intel ICH9R one and the J-Micron one. I think in both cases the options are AHCI, IDE or RAID.

  2. yep i'll try to do that tonight, if I can work how to change from AHCI to ATA. I assume this can be done from BIOS?

edit: actually I think it hangs off the same controller as my HDDs so i'm not keen on changing it away from AHCI. THe motherboard does have a separate SATA controller that is used for eSATA and other things, so I can enable that. Will try later.

  4. I'm having a similar problem. Is my media too crappy (Shintaro)? I upgraded my DVD-RW firmware to latest last night. Putting it in incremental mode seems to help but it seems to hang near the end of the burn with the dvd-rw still spinning.
