Well...I went and bought a multi-format burner and tried 3 different software applications (including ImgBurn) and it still did not work. I burned the ISO file onto a dvd with the multiformat burner and the result was the same: the dvd turned up blank with no file inside it and could not be read by a DVD player even though when I insert it into a computer it's coming up as a "DVD-ROM." Just the disc is coming up blank even after I tried to write the ISO file on it. I'm convinced now more than ever that it's not a DVD problem, or a disc problem. I think it's just the file itself is bad and there's no burner or comp that is able to convert it into DVD format even though it plays beautifully on VLC Media Player. After a week and a half of trying different softwares and research on various forums, it looks like I have no choice but to give up. I guess all I can say is, I tried. Thanks for the help though. I appreciate all the suggestions/guides that you guys have provided me with.

I tried the process again and it did not work as the disc came up blank (Damn it)! It looks like I'll have to invest in buying a multi-format burner. I do however, have some questions about that though. When you buy one how does it work? Does this device come with a USB cable drive to hook it up with the comp or do you have to physically remove the current dvd writer that's inside your hardware? If it's the latter I'd be pretty nervous about that because I'm not really a technical person and I'd be afraid if I tampered with it then it might damage the hardware... Can these things also be compatible with a PC laptop or do you have to get one that is specifically designed exclusively for portable comps?

I tried it again and I see a new toolbar tab that comes up above it under E:\ and it lists Astroburn a search toolbar and Daemon Tools. Is any of this making sense?

The File is coming up as "UNNAMED_VOLUME.iso

Uhh...I guess nothing? I inserted the disc into my dvd-ROM drive and it came up showing the file in it and is followed by a separate menu "Open With...Choose the Program you want to use to open this file:" I selected Explorer but the Explorer did not come up....in fact it didn't do anything...just a blink and then stays the same.

What is the correct procedure then? Do I build the iso file onto the disc? I tried the guide that instructs to write the ISO file on to a dvd.

I may have to do that. I tried this process again on the same comp and I was successfully able to get the Iso file onto the DVD+RW. But the Iso file (on the disc) is just the same as it were on my comp and cannot be read by a dvd player (and this was done using the steps in the link provided by Shamus). I used this cd to transfer the file to my laptop (it took a long time but I was able to get the file into my Videos folder) and I tried to do the same thing but unfortunately DVD+RW's are incompatible for the laptop. Hmmm....okay this is very odd. I've tried the steps in the link you gave me and the disc is coming up blank. When I load ImgBurn and start the process it first tells me that the disc needs to be formatted and asks if I would like to erase the disc (even though it's blank and brand new). It erases the disc then goes ahead with the write process (for about 20 mins or so...then does the process of verifying which takes another 20 mins.) Then when it's finished it tells me that the burn was successful and I get a separate menu that loads (not from Imgburn), stating that I have inserted a blank disc and asks what I want the computer to do. It lists a bunch of apps and such listing what I can do with them (i.e. Run iTunes to add music, run ImgBurn, Nero, etc.) I also tried to put it into a dvd player just to be sure and it says "No Play".

Awesome! I bought a bunch of DVD+RW and the ImgBurn problem has been solved. Now, with that out of the way, to burn the Iso file onto the DVD...am I suppose to write or build? I read the guides but they seem to be starting with DVD's to transfer to other DVDs and/or to the comp. I assume that because Iso is an image file it has to be converted first before I can actually burn it into a DVD so that it can be read by a DVD player. I am certain this question has been asked before so I wouldn't mind if one of you guys could post a link to a similar thread with instructions. Thank you for all your help Lightning UK and Jason! That would be a little hard considering I'm a little short on dough for the time being...but would the ImgBurn software work with a DVD+RW disc for what I want to do?

E 17:23:46 Operation Failed! - Duration: 00:00:04 I don't know why but it won't give me any option to burn or write unless I click the erase icon for the disc even though it's blank. The erase method (either Quick or Full) fails and this comes up. The previous post I made (with the error message for the DVD-RW) is what pops up after the erase thing fails (in a separate screen, not in the log). My first thought was maybe all the discs I have are bad (they are a year and a half old, even though plenty I have were never used) and I considered going to the store opting to buy another set of DVD-RW's or DVD-RAM. But if you're saying that my comp doesn't support it then that probably wouldn't work either...

Okay, this post is gonna be a bit tedious, but I might as well start at the beginning and give out as much detail as I can so it will be easier for everyone to understand where I'm at and hopefully figure out exactly what the problem is. What initially happened a few days ago was I recorded my favorite show (conveniently moved to a 4am time slot) and had one hour left on the DVD-RW disc from my Parasonic DVD/VHS player. I woke up that morning to find a light on and said that the DVD was "unreadable," which was the first time this has ever happened and the DVD itself played fine until that point. Because I was using it to record one more episode since one hr was left on it I could not finalize the dvd on my dvd recorder. So, I did some research on some other forums and it was suggested I use Isobuster. That did not work because the disc was too corrupted but I then tried Isopuzzle and that worked! I was successfully able to get an Iso file on my computer under My Videos. The Iso file can be played and read like a movie on VLC Media Player. Now....what I am trying to do is...transfer and convert this Iso file to a new DVD-RW so I can view and play it on a DVD recorder. There have been many problems I've had nonstop with this and have tried every single thing possible. First, I started with Nero and for some reason I can't get it to burn this file on a blank CD-R, DVD-RW, or DVD-R disc (all new and blank never used). I also tried Astroburn and I either get a message saying the disc has not been formatted or (for the CD-R disc specifically), there is not enough space capacity to hold the file. I have tried ImgBurn as my last bet and that hasn't proven to be successful thus far. It seems to be okay with CD-R but again I have the same problem in that it doesn't have enough space capacity. I've also tried DVD-RW but it comes up with an error message. And...for that, I've also done my research on this forum checking out the guides. I noticed there was a guide for this access denied message and I installed the explorer application. I did an "E:" search and there were a list of things that came up that were being used (the reason being that this may have been the problem as to why I could not get ImgBurn to get the burn process to work. I tried the right-click thing but nothing was coming up...as in no menu or option to turn what was preventing the ImgBurn from being able to do what it needs to do off. I noticed that the other guides I had checked out specifically were for burning to a double/single layer disc so is it possible that I need to do other steps before following those guides for this situation I'm having? I'm very confused. Any suggestions or tips on what I can do to fix this problem? Thanks!
