10x CD burns at 4x

Firmware in the Philip's drive is not really geared towards the media you are using. eg 2.4x on dvd-r is not valid and the firmware has just turned 3 years old, maybe time for a new drive :(

Indeed, that "2.4x" sounds strange. Latest firmware is installed.

As suggested in your other thread.

Only a burn that fills the whole disc will give you a hint on the speeds used over the burning phase and a look at a Write Speed Graph file.

:)

I don't care about the real speeds. I care about ImgBurn saying "Write Speed: 4x" instead of "Write Speed: 16x" as selected.

If the GUI says 'Write Speed: 4x' then you selected 4x in the Write Speed drop down combo box (or in the AWS feature).

If it says 'Write Speed: 16x' then you selected 16x.

If you're talking about the write speed miscompare line in the log then your drive hasn't handled setting the speed correctly (or doesn't support the chosen write speed at all)
