Win7 x64 RTM all updates

LITE-ON DVDRW LH-20A1L BL06 (latest firmware)

ImgBurn Version 2.5.0.0 & 2.4.4.0

6th Verbatim DVD+R DL failed now, has been happening at either 0% or 10% of the overall progress.

Discs are rated at 2.4x which is what I'm burning them at.

Never had this problem before yesterday.

I will say I had one success after the 2nd failure, the rest are all failures. Have tried different images/data.

Hi and welcome to the forum, pairdime! :)

Tried the 4x write speed?

Latest chip set drivers for the mother board installed?

If you attach the burner to another computer - same issue?

Tried to clean the laser beam with a DVD cleaning disc?

A couple times, I will try again.

No and this is what I was thinking. Have an ASUS P5E-VM HDMI board (Intel chipset) -- I cannot find Windows 7 chipset software anywhere. I would have gone with what's there for Vista, but then I remembered I never did this with any of the Win7 betas and never ran into this problem. Guess I'll do it anyway and see what happens.

Normally the Windows drivers works best IMHO - but Win7 is still a beta and who knows?

It's a SATA burner? I have an ASUS P5W DH Deluxe motherboard myself and SATA optical units on my board is a joke. I ended up with an internal Silicon Image SATA card to get it to work.

Tried installing everything I could, which was only one of the chipset drivers (nothing else supported).

Another failure at 4x 2% in. The disc was spinning as fast as it goes even after imgburn terminated the burn.

This Windows is not in beta. I have used the same hardware in Vista maybe 100 times without failure.

If it's SATA

There is also the Pioneer 218. It's a new chip (Mediatek) compared to the 217 and below series (Nec chips). I couldn't find any 216 or 217 models at Newegg - but from what I've seen so far on burnings with the 218 it looks like a nice burner.

More about the 118/218:

  • 2 weeks later...

Thanks Cynthia, I picked up the Sony and it's working great. Firmware HQ is also great.

Should this drive handle the DVD DL 8x Verbatim? Can you burn them faster than that?

What speed should I burn DVD DL 2.4x Verbatim at?

Put a blank disc in the burner and select write mode - you should see the available speeds in the right part of the window.

Recent burners should work nice with 8x DL media.

Most times you have 2.4x and 4x as options for 2.4x media. No idea what speeds that works best.

I dont seem to understand. I have just purchased an ASUS g50-vt laptop and have been using imgburn to make iso's. After successfully buring discs with no problem I'm starting to get an error every time I try to make a disc.

Can someone please help. Thankyou
