I have tried backing up a 360 game, it seemed to write fine but then on verification it had read errors. I am using verbatims on a Optiarc AD-7170S Drive it was on 1.0 firmware, but just retrying the burn as ive just updated it to 1.3.

Any help would be appreciated, here is the log:

You don't need to use the slowest speed to get the best quality.

Some drives will actually create a better quality burn at one of the faster available speeds... it all depends on how their firmware has been tweaked.

i was told to burn at 2.4x when backing up 360 games.

Hopefully you will get a better result after your firmware update. If not clean the lens on the writer & try again, if still the same buy a new writer maybe a Pioneer 115/116/117/118 eg if you can get a 115 for

All current Pioneer burners seem good. Since your drive is a SATA model then maybe you should get a Pioneer 215/216/217 (11x models are IDE interface and 21x are SATA interface) ;)

ide or sata makes little difference to me! im not using any ide ports at all atm. would you recommend the sata pioneers over the ide or not?
