Have you always used that dye? (CMC MAG-D03-64)

Try 4x and try cleaning the drive.

Personally I'd read this though - http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=8000

That's a slimline laptop drive yeah? They're not even that good when you're using the better quality media.

Yes ive always used them(Fortis)

Ive always burnt at x2.4, will give x4 ago, please dont shoot me but how best do i clean my drive?

Ive read that link, and do agree with what you are saying, but since ive been using these fortis discs with no problems(until now) you can understand my hesitance in using different media and me not wanting to belive that this is the problem lol.

Yes it is a slimline drive in a toshiba satellit pro laptop and ive heard all the scare stories about them, which i think is the problem, i want to get an internal dl drive for my desktop, can you recommend one pls.

Thanks again for your fast reply Lightning.

You can clean the drive's lens with a cotton bud and some alcohol. Alternatively you can buy a lens cleaning disc kit that should be available at any stores that deal with CDs/DVDs/etc.

As for a burner for your desktop computer I think the latest models from Pioneer or Optiarc should be great burners.

  • 2 weeks later...

After alot of begging, i mananged to borrow a friends external LG drive, to rule out media/drive problems, and the drive burned them without fault.

So a new external drive has now been ordered.

So my next problem is......

After burning a Xbox 360 game, i want to do a 1 on 1 copy i try nero copy disc option but get a failed burn as soon as i hit the copy button.

So im guessing theres a knack to doing a dl to dl copy right?.

TIA
