Writing speed selection

After using ImgBurn for a while, I really liked it. I started using it instead of Nero Burning ROM.

Now I have a question. When I'm ready to burn a DVD, ImgBurn will show a dropdown list of all possible writing speeds, instead of showing the different writing speeds supported by the burner, which is how Nero works.

I also like 'AWS', but there's a problem too. For DVDs that belong to the same MID but different batch, their quality could vary. Different batch sometimes means the better of writing speeds are also different, which is something 'AWS' cannot deal with.

Although it's not really a big problem, I still hope that ImgBurn can retrieve the information from the burner, regarding supported writing speeds about the specific DVD, and then list them out. In fact, I suggest there should be an option in 'Settings' to decide whether to display all writing speeds or only the ones that are supported.

Thanks!

I'm not the author of the program, however I don't see much use in displaying any writing speed that the drive can not burn at. Wouldn't that muddy up the clarity of what is available to the user?

Limiting the values makes it hard to get CLI links to the program working nicely, also it means displaying a blank box until there's media in the drive. It all just gets a bit messy and could muck up other programs that link to it and expect it to work how it does now.

So basically, I won't be changing it any time soon.

p.s. the supported write speeds for the drive/media combo are listed in the disc info panel on the right.
