Not sure if I hit a bad disc, trying a different disc now .. but here is what I get:

try verbatim or taiyo yuden for better results

the discs you are using are 3rd class at best http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm

Thanks for the suggestion. I was trying to get rid of these old 1-2x disc I have lying around. I usually use the RITEX, which is what I tried next and ...

OK, now that I've isolated the issue down to a bad disc is there anyway the program can send a more generic message to the end user.

Maybe something like, "The disc failed verification. It is recommened you discard the media and trying burning your solution again."

My 2 cents anyway.

There are a number of reasons why a burn would fail, bad media is just one.

you're on a roll first princo and then Ritek GO5's not that much better .Take a look at www.digitalfaq.com for media ratings we only recommend Verbatim and Yudens these days they really are the only ones you can count on .Finding the best media /hardware can be hit and miss and then throw firmware in the mix and it can be frustrating but the Verbs and Yudens are the only way to go ,been using them for years now without a single coaster :thumbup:

Not quite so, a disc that fails to read in one drive can read very well in another, it depends on how picky your drive is, your point is well valid though.

This Is one I got today, although the burn failed verification It plays on my standalone. I did re-burn to a +RW and completed the verification so this can't be a media issue as I'm using Taiyo Yudens...?

Well the thing is, one speck of dust will make it fail, hence my comments above.

if you actually read the error message , it tells you what the problem is

in the case of this one, its a read error at sector 1749328

and the error in the log also tells you

as kenadjian says, a simple speck of dust would be enough to make a disc fail to verify

at least with the error message you got, you are able to resolve the problem by a process of elimination , with the error you suggest you could have someone burn 100 discs before they find out theyve left anydvd running or an ide cable has come loose since the actual burn

Bloody specs of dust - I am always hunched over at my pc furiously polishing my discs...... :lol: Thank god volvo didn't type that - with his record on typos that could have been filthy !! =))

Clean your drive. Drive cleaning kits are cheap and can eliminate a source of frustration.
