ImgBurn newbie

I downloaded ImgBurn today after getting nowhere trying to burn a dvd with Cyberlink Power Producer - however my files that I have spent 3 months compiling are saved as Cyberlink PPP mode ( i know this is not your problem) but can I use Imgburn to produce these files too? I really don't want to have to start over. I have had problems with the driver and already had Dell out to replace it....and since reading on here most of the evening discovered i have the poor quality disks.

I have a new driver

I am getting better disks

am I ready to go by drag/dropping my existing file into ImgBurn or do i need to convert or build 'ISO' files ?

How can i do this from what i already have?

thanks in advance for any pointers... I am getting worn down by it all and am getting hounded by overseas family to see the DVD of babys first year - before he goes to school!! :ermm:

just drag and drop the files you want burned into imgburn in build mode, choose your drive as the destination and burn.

take a read of the build mode overview in the guides section for help , or just ask again if its unclear after that

Thanks, I didn't want to waste anyone's time, so I read the guides before my original post, but like i said this is all a learning process for me, and i think maybe the project is not building properly.... can you scan this for me to where it failed and offer some insight! i appreciate your time.

(Disc ID: CMC MAG. AE1)

Your media is reall bad/nasty/dam well worthless, try some Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim DataLifePlus discs as they are the best and what we overwealmingly recommend here.

I can't tell about your firmware, it isn't listed at rpc-1 :/ Try opening IB and right clicking your drive and select check firmware on the bottom of the menu and see what it tells you. ;)

thanks first.

Guess I'll be off to Bestbuy or Walmart then :-) does seem a bit mad that we paid a ton for the harddrive camcorder, the dell system and then cheapskated on the disks... we live and learn! :)

Also firmware checked...this was the info

You need to convert the files from your camcorder to something that your DVD player would be able to read before loading the converted files (in BUILD mode) into ImgBurn. The program you need is "VSO DivxToDVD" which can be found HERE. Ensure you grab the old, free version.

Once you've converted your camcorder file to DVD format (IFO, BUP and VOB files), open ImgBurn in BUILD mode and select the folder containing the DVD files. Hit BUILD and answer yes to the ROOT DIRECTORY question. Create an ISO file before burning with ImgBurn or burn your selection straight to disk. A detailed explanation of the ImgBurn building and burning process by Cornholio is available in the guides forum. Good luck.
