Problem Burning XGD3 Backups

Hey, everyone!

So, I recently invested in the tools to be able to flash my Lite-On drive. Previously, I was paying someone I found on the Internet to do it for me, as I didn't have the money, and was unsure as to whether or not I could flash the drive myself, but after he stopped offering flashing services, I was forced to man-up and do it myself. I got all of the tools in the mail the other day, and flashed my drive successfully, but now I've run into another problem (as usual); I can't successfully burn XGD3 backups! I keep getting an error in IMG Burn at 99%, saying "Failure to Finalize Disc: Session Fixation Error Writing Lead Out."

Here is the log from Nero Info Tool detailing my drive:

While there is no information as to whether or not my drive works with the Payload Tool on any of the compatibility lists, I know that it works; with a blank disc in the drive, I get "Burner Max is Enabled" like you're supposed to. I picked up a pack of Verbatim at Office Max today; they're the MKM-001-00, and I burn them at the required 2.4x speed. I've also tried with some of my old Memorex discs, and still no joy.

My IMG Burn settings are as follows:

- OPC is enabled
- Burn-Proof is disabled
- Optimal Layer Break is enabled
- Buffer Size is 512MB

I've also tried with the default settings (no OPC, Burn-Proof enabled, Optimal Layer Break enabled, and Buffer Size set to 80), and I still get the same error, in the same place... I've tried three different ISO files too.

Here is my latest IMG Burn log:

What could be the problem here? Is it something with my drive, such as the laser, or is it something with the Payload Tool, or IMG Burn? Should I try to uninstall and install both the Payload Tool and IMG Burn again, then retry with the recommended XGD3 settings (OPC, no Burn-Proof, Optimal Layer Break, 512MB Buffer)? I've been scouring the Internet in search of a Lite-On IHAS124-B drive, or an alternative that can be cross-flashed to the IHAS firmware, such as the ASUS 24B1ST or a similar ASUS model, but they're so hard to find, and nobody lists whether they're A, B, C, D, etc. on their website!

I'm stuck! Please help me, guys! Thank you!

You can only flash the firmware of BurnMax to a iHAS B model and and also if you want cross flash it from a what ever i.e iHAS 124B to a 524B. I would recomment you get a B model drive and flash it with BurnMax firmware instead of using the the payload tool. I would not recoment writing a firmware from another drive to your TSSTcorp CDDVDW TS-H653Q 0303 model

IHAS124 C and D revisions work just fine with the Payload tool. Lightning UK has done extensive testing of many drives using MKM001 and 003 media and the payload. Your Toshiba / Samsung burner may show the payload enabled, but clearly it is unable to produce XGD3 backups.

Okay, here's an update.

Last night, I was looking for a solution to this problem.  I participate on a website called Crowdtap, where you basically take short surveys and earn rewards, especially Amazon gift cards.  I had some saved up, and took a look around Amazon for a new drive to buy, and I found the Sony Optiarc 5280S-CB-PLUS, capable of overburn, which has been tested and found able to successfully burn XGD3 backups.  Using my gift cards, I got it for free, so let's hope it works!  If it doesn't, I know that I can return it, get my gift cards back, and then I'll be able to buy a Revision C or D Lite-On, as I know Amazon has them as well.

Thanks for the info that the Payload Tool works with the C & D drives RhoTrux.

Rather try get the Revision B model its there is a higher chance of it working and easier :)

P.S I have never had a problem with the B model (iHAS 324 B) burning XGD3 games

No offense, but do you have any idea how hard it is to find a Revision B Lite-On drive nowadays?  They were discontinued a very long time ago, and are now practically impossible to find, especially without paying an arm and a leg.  I have yet to read a bad report about the Sony drive that I bought, as one of the native features of its firmware is the ability to burn the full amount of space of a dual-layer disc, meaning, 8.7GB.  It produces burns equal to, or better than that of any other drive, even a Lite-On with Burner Max flashed to it.

You'll be fine with the Optiarc :)

I hope so!  I'll post an update once it arrives, has been hooked up, and tested out.

Thanks!

I can also confirm. I have never had a bad backup with the 5280S-CB.

Thanks for the confirmation!  I'll post an update once I've gotten it!

Problem solved!

My Sony Optiarc 5280S-CB Plus drive arrived in the mail today.  I realized when I went to install it into my PC that I would have to remove my power supply in order to remove the current drive, as it's an aftermarket unit, and the wires are wrapped in a wire mesh, which makes the rather inflexible, and I had to cram the excess into the secondary bay, so I got creative.  I ran to Best Buy and bought a 2' SATA cable, and drilled a hole in my case big enough for the cable to run through, and hooked it to the computer and the drive.  Then I plugged in my external molex power supply for X360USB Pro V2 and connected it to the drive with the molex to SATA conversion so the drive was powered.

I ran the software disc included with the drive, popped in a Verbatim, fired up IMG Burn, confirmed the disc size showing as 8.7GB and burned.  Once it was done, I popped it into my Xbox, and it works!  The results in Kprobe2 weren't where they should be, but my modded console is banned from Live anyways, so I'm not worried about it getting me flagged, banned, etc.  I do wonder why the results were off though; maybe because I scanned it at the max speed instead of the suggested 4x (I forgot to set it).

Which are the settings for max payload 0.15 program with
Liteon ihas 124d & verbatim mkm-00-03 made in singapore.

1st settings:
Force Hypertuning - Enabled
Online Hypertung - Enabled
Smartburn - Enabled
Overspeed - Disabled
OPC history - Clear before every write
Buffer size -what you want i try 200mb

2nd settings:
Force Hypertuning - Enabled
Online Hypertung - Disabled
Smartburn - Enabled
Overspeed - Disabled
OPC history - Clear before every write
Buffer size -what you want i try 200mb

Results:
If i don't clear the opc history before every write i have failed verify xgd3 games.
Only the first verb made in Singapore mkm-03 all the others i must BEFORE every write clear the opc history to have successful verify's to any other case i have fail verify's

Do you have any oter suggestions so i don't need to do clear opc history before every xgd3 write?

Does anyone try to update the firmware with the new one 8LOA from 8LO5 that the recorder has?
