Errors

So, here's my problem: I've been trying to burn some Xbox360 games, but almost every time (the last one was successful) i get an error while burning, and every time it's at a different percentage. The error looks like this: error.JPG.

How can i get rid of this error? I've ruined 3 dvd9's so far.

The error message is not showing up for me - can you instead post the ImgBurn log as this will tell us a lot of info that we need.

If I had to guess I would say that you are not using Verbatim DVD+R DL discs, these are the only ones we recommend for Dual Layer burns at the moment. However, to be sure we need to see the log. You can view the logs via Imgburn using the drop down menus at the top of the GUI. Just copy paste the last one with errors here and we will take a look.

I would almost bet my mortgage on it being the RICOH dye on those discs, I have used some myself and they were very poor whereas I have never had a bad burn with Verbatim DVD+R DLs which is why we only recommend the latter.

Thing is with lower class media some might burn ok but most will not and will give you these problems you are seeing, as you can see your drive is unable to write to the second layer of these discs.

My advice is to give Verbatims DVD+R DLs a go :)

The first error you get is the real one.

The retries almost always give you something different.

In your case, the real one is:

W 11:42:14 Failed to Write Sectors 3411168 - 3411199 - Write Error

So your drive just failed to burn to the disc.

As lfc said, this is because you're using cheapo double layer media. Verbatim media might cost more but then you don't end up throwing it in the bin. As with most things in life, you get what you pay for.

btw, you do not need to manually specify the layer break position in the settings, put that option back on 'Automatic' and just let ImgBurn read the value from the .DVD file.

Similar problem here again, burnt 4 or 5 disk without any problems and now fubarred 2 disks, 1 last night and 1 just now.

All burns using Verbatim+R D/L disks. Here's a copy of the last log file:

I'm not sure if this is part of your problem but 1x is not a correct write speed for your discs. In your first log you had the write speed set to 2.4x and you wrote to Layer 0 but had problems with Layer 1. Now, with the write speed set a 1x you failed to even burn the first layer.

In addition you did not take LUK's advice when he said "you do not need to manually specify the layer break position in the settings, put that option back on 'Automatic' and just let ImgBurn read the value from the .DVD file."
