DL Layer Break, Burn Speed : Movie Backup

Recommended Posts

I have ecountered a pause or reading error in the estimated location of the Layer break (50/50) while playing my DVD. This lasts for about 2:00 minutes of the disc play time. (i.e. 1:00.00 - 1:02.00) My disc player reads Error: Trying to read Media. I can fast forward about 2 minutes and it plays no problem. Does any one have any suggestions?

I am also burning from an .iso at 10x. Is this a optimum speed or what do you guys suggest?

I have never seen 10X as a supported write speed . I dont believe its supported by anyones firmware or drives. Posting a log of the burn helps big time and putting the video to quality media is a must thats Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden .Try burning at a supported speed and examine the disc for damage or blotches etc .Logs are stored by IMGburn HELP-->IMGburn logs

Even SlySoft admitted AnyDVD interefers with the verify.

How can you know you have a good burn if you don't verify.

And 12x with shit media (even though it limited itself to about 4x)? Asking for trubble matey. Big trubble. :)

Change to Verbs, close AnyDVD, verify, write at 2.4 - you'll be right.

Thank you guys, I'm going to try and make another pass. I'm actually using SONY DVD+R DL Discs. Are these made by Ritek?

I'm going to try again I'll let you know how it goes...

Then why ask for advice if you're not willing to follow it and return or throw away the crap discs you bought and heed the advice given??????

Spinningwheel, what are you talking about?!

Thanks everyone for your help. I succesfully backedup up my DVD with my Sony DL Discs and it's running smoooooth. You guys are the best! I think It was definatly the ANY DVD program. I went ahead and removed it from my computer. I also slowed the burn down to 2.4x. So far my experience with this community had been wonderful and again I appreciate the help!

Sony outsource the manufacturiing of their media to other companies. We can see what the DVDs really are (highlighted below) from your logfile and Ritek are garbage.

Thats pretty interesting. Well I have bought those Sonys' (Ritek) DVD+R DL Discs just cause they were less in cost. I've used 6 so far and have turned two of those into coasters. :/ I mainly blame that on lack of knowledge for this program. I have since read much more on the forums and it seems that the consensus is Verbatim is the best. I plan on purchasing those from now on out. I also spoke with a few people that said Verbatim is way more durable and scratch resistant than any of it's closest competitors. Thanks for the help.
