ChristianD Posted February 14, 2007 Share Posted February 14, 2007 Hi, I have a program I use to make DVDs from my own movie files. This program also burns the disk. However, I wanted to try to use ImgBurn to burn the disk instead, so I burnt the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders on to the DVD, but it's not recognized as a DVD and won't play. The other one burnt with the other program works. How do I burn working DVDs with ImgBurn? I looked for a guide and searched the forum, but could not find anything about burning existing dvd directories. I found something on another forum about having to create an image first and then burn it. I do not understand why that makes a difference though. The difference between outputting the ISO to a file, or outputting it to a disc is 1 click of the mouse. It's either 'Output' -> 'Device' or it's 'Output' -> 'Image File'. I guess I'm not being clear here. Sorry! I know how to output to an ISO, but I was hoping I didn't have to create an ISO first and then burn it. It would take twice as long. Being able to burn the DVD folders directly to the device is what I was looking for. As I said in another post I found out how by adding the directory above AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS and then burn. joshdts Posted February 14, 2007 Share Posted February 14, 2007 This is from the user guide: Standalone DVD players are only supposed to (made to) understand UDF. Being able to read ISO9660 / Joliet is optional. As such, if you're building a DVD Video disc, you at least want to make sure the UDF filesystem is present in any image you're building / burning. A typical DVD Video disc you buy from a shop will use 'ISO9660 + UDF', so to be totally correct, that's what you should use too. That way, a standalone player can read it (due to UDF) and PC's with old operating systems can read it (due to ISO9660). A new operating system can read both but will favor UDF because it's more advanced. I want to just watch it on my standalone dvd player, should I just use UDF only?
