ssjkakaroto Posted April 18, 2007 Share Posted April 18, 2007 (edited) Hi there LUK, for some reason when I choose Read mode using Nero ASPI layer, Imgburn doesn't detect Label, Imp ID nor File Sys, so when the image is created it's not supported by Windows. When I choose SPTI everything works fine and the image created works ok. Is Nero ASPI lacking some functions for Read Mode to work? LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 18, 2007 Share Posted April 18, 2007 Nero ASPI doesn't like working with anything other than Nero - well, sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. Even low level driver sniffing shows that it does weird things. Just stick to SPTI. If you can't do that, try the Adaptec ASPI or FrogASPI (the latter is an SPTI wrapper anyway). Basically the 'Read' command is just having it's buffer filled with complete rubbish - hence ImgBurn isn't able to parse the filesystem. EDIT: The one I tested was 2.0.1.74. Perhaps the .68 version (as used above) is ok. Perhaps they're actually doing it on purpose to stop it being used with other Apps? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

dontasciime Posted April 18, 2007 Share Posted April 18, 2007 I had to try as I had only just updated it to latest then you posted and I thought that would be typical after telling someone to update to latest to find that Ahead had screwed up so I needed to check it still worked as they do F.O with their drivers and software before deleting the previous functioning version I had been using. PS: I've been using ASPI because sometimes SPTI fails to get exclusive access or it just makes the drives not read anything on other programs (I've posted about this a long time ago). LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 18, 2007 Share Posted April 18, 2007 Switching to ASPI doesn't solve the exclusive locking thing, the feature just isn't available under ASPI, hence it's never attempted. It you think about it that way, just turn off the exclusive locking option in the settings - of course that's not something I actually recommend that you do, but then nor is using ASPI! FYI, I found the root of the problem, the Nero ASPI doesn't always seem to like memory allocated using 'VirtualAlloc'. Without changing anything else, I can switch the call to use 'malloc' instead and it works fine. Go figure! I think only Nero could explain that one - and of course they wouldn't because the dll isn't meant for use in other burning apps. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
