Unless I am reading it wrong 2.40 which is what your drives firmware is would appear to be older than 2.24 available at rpc1.org and stock 2.40 cannot set booktype to dvd-rom which you should need to be able to burn successful backups.

search google on liggy and dee for an alternative firmware for your drive

Have you started on a new spindle of discs recently?

Assuming this isn't a 1 off error (i.e. you've burnt more than 1 disc and they've all failed like this), maybe you have a dodgy batch of discs?

It's that or your burner has given up the ghost - laptop ones normally are quite rubbish.

updating your firmware is always a good idea, new FW handles the latest discs ,dyes ,fixes bugs and so forth. You can update your FW through IMGburn , right click on your burner in the Destination box and from the menu select the last line "check for firmware updates " click on that and take note of the version of your FW(2.40) click OK and you'll be taken to RPC1 site where you'll find the latest NEC official FW download it and flash your drive .Make sure theres no disc in the drive when you do.Liggy and Dee do some great FW's for NEC but I prefer originals when available . If you're unsure how to flash come back and we'll walk you through

you should also take extra care and look at Fujitsu-Siemens site for updates to drive.

Just got off the phone with helpdisk, they can´t get any drivers at their homepage too. I tried everything, on the national and the international homepage of Fujitsu-Siemens.
