drive "is not a valid WIN32 Program"

I have been making iso's in build mode trying to get my iso perfected for a while now and all of the sudden the iso's when mounted say "H:\ is not a vaild WIN32 Application" The .ico is shown on the drive H:\ in "My Computer" and the autorun says "Open Site.html" like I have it set but I can't browse the folder structure on the drive. Is there a setting somewhere that I may have changed to cause this?

If you think it could be something you've changed, go to the Options tab and click Reset Settings.

I reset the settings to "Default" and it still doesnt work. Is there anything wierd in this Log file?

Uninstall ImgBurn and reinstall it to see if that wipes out a potential registry entry that has marked it as not valid.

If you have recently messed on with .ico or file types option eg opens with etc, from folder options/ tools / file types you may need to remember what you did and restore defaults in windows.

Once you install ImgBurn again see if that fixes it if not goto settings in ImgBurn and General Tab and tick make ImgBurn default App and select all file extensions OK it and close reboot (reboot not really needed) reopen ImgBurn or try what you have been trying to do.

I assume you have scanned your computer for viruses and get hold of spybot search and destroy and update it then scan for spyware/mal/adaware etc

Actually If I had seen bootable in logfile would have just typed below instead of above :D

There are lots of bootable CD/DVD that windows cannot view.

put CD/DVD in drive boot computer with bios set to boot first from CD/DVD or press the magic key assigned by your bios to be select boot device , could be ESC key F11 , F2 or F8

I created another iso WITHOUT using the boot image, after I did a complete uninstall, reboot, reinstall, and it still says the same thing. "H:\ is not a valid Win32 Application" Is there anything else I can try?

Doesn't it just mean there's something wrong with the autorun stuff?

Normally that would be the case or someone has been messing on with file types opens with.

you could also try right clicking on CD drive in question choose properties then autoplay TAB and click restore defaults, if that option is greyed out you will have to tick "select an action to perform" first.

If the autorun.inf on the burnt dvd is ok and the file it tells the OS to open is ok, I don't see why there would be a problem.

Well I tried right clicking on the drive in My computer and clicking Explore and it lets me browse the file structure of the drive. So it was a problem with the autorun.inf

dontasciime - I am running Vista so to access that menu is a little different and I'm not sure how to do it I am going to look at my autorun.inf for any errors.

My autorun looks like this:

[autorun]

open = /HTML/Site.html

icon = /HTML/Icon.ico

What is wrong in that?! :S The icon loads correctly in My Computer and both the .ico and .html reside in the HTML folder!

  • 2 weeks later...
Problem solved. Thanks LightningUK!!! I changed:

open = /HTML/Site.html

to:

shellrun = /HTML/Site.html

Just as an FYI for anyone with this same problem. I later noticed that the Autorun wouldnt work with XP. I changed:

shellrun = /HTML/Site.html

to:

shellrun = ./HTML/Site.html

and it worked. Vista doesnt require that . and will work without but XP for some reason needed it.
