Hello, I am having trouble with ImbBurn, or actually any burning program.

I'm trying to burn xbox 360 games on Verbatim DVD+RDL CD's. They are from Singapore. (best kind?)

Whenenver I try to burn, the process stops at about 15%-29%.

I'm guessing you need a log?

I 17:55:12 ImgBurn Version 2.4.1.0 started!

I 17:55:12 Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium Edition (6.0, Build 6000)

I 17:55:12 Total Physical Memory: 2 094 912 KB - Available: 1 170 792 KB

I 17:55:13 Initialising SPTI...

I 17:55:13 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices...

I 17:55:13 Found 2 DVD-ROMs and 1 DVD

Ok well it's probably going to be your drivers / machine setup then.

Being a laptop (?) there's only so much you can do.

I'd start with the filter drivers list (viewed via the feature in the Tools menu) and then move onto the laptop/motherboard bios, chipset drivers, ide drivers etc.

Has it ever worked? What about on single layer discs?

Are there any firmware updates available for the drive?

Are you running service pack 1 for vista? If not, give that a try.

It is a laptop.

Sorry, but are you asking me to show you the complete list of units?

It has worked once! Back then I could complete the burning process, but now I cant finish it by a long-shot. Single layer discs? As in 4gb discs? No.

Are there any firmware updates available for the drive?

I wouldn't know? I believe it's a HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T20N ATA Device WW01

Are you running service pack 1 for vista? If not, give that a try.

Run ImgBurn in Service Pack 1? I'll try that. EDIT: Uhm.. should the Service Pack 1 be visable in the compatible option? Not showing for me, and I just installed it to be on the safe side.

Thanks! I'll report back soon!

Burning a single-layer disc did work.

Uhh, you might pound me for this, but what is an actual firmware? I thought it was the writer?

Again, check my reply about the Service pack, as I still havn't gotten it working.

Any ideas?

When (and if you already installed it) the SP1 information will show up in the ImgBurn log.

I 17:55:14 Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate Edition (6.0, Build 6001 : Service Pack 1)

Tried to find a later firmware for that writer but couldn't find any. :(

Look first in the filter driver list if there is something weird.

Main Menu -> Tools -> Filter Driver Load Order

Then hit the 'Copy To Clipboard' button and past the information into a posting window here.

It might look something like this one:

Filter Driver Load Order - ImgBurn v2.4.1.8

Well you could rule out the OS by trying a 'live cd' (linux) of some sort.

What SL discs have you tried in the drive? You said they fail too yeah?

Have you looked for a bios update for your laptop? Go to the manufacturers website and check for bios and firmware updates.

Have you installed everything 'Windows Update' offers you - you might need to make it show you *everything* rather than just critical updates etc.
