Hi

I recently got the LG GH22NP20 and while trying to burn a iso file using imgburn the device fails to buffer. I'm using TDK DVD-R discs and the log i get from imgburn is:

Try burning at 4x or 12x and see if it works. Also make sure you're using the latest drivers available for your motherboard's chipset.

And yeah, we know that's a Wii game ISO :pirate2::D

I've got the latest drivers

log at 12x:

Your chouice of media, although not good if really TDK, is made using CMC dye and, as such, are really crap. Get yourself some Taiyo Yuden discs and see if your chances of a successful burn do not increase immensely.

So do you think there could be a problem with the DVD-R (TDK) media I'm using? I got a batch of ten, I tried using all most all of them to no avail :(.
E 16:26:35 Failed to Reserve Track! - Reason: Invalid Field in CDB

I 16:27:11 Source File Sectors: 2,294,912 (MODE1/2048)

I 16:26:32 Destination Media Sectors: 2,294,912

CDB error is usually when you burn more than the disc can hold. But I have no clue why the size of the discs suddenly went down in size compared to your fist log. :(

Hmm I may have used a different disc, but its the same batch so shouldn't it be the same size anyway?

Sounds odd that a new drive can't write with Verbatims. It's an IDE connected writer. Don't know what computer you have - but make sure it's not connected to a jMicron based connector.

Normally if a firmware update goes wrong - the whole writer goes banana.

Try burning at a faster speed. Firmware is tweaked for speed these days and it's quite possible that burning slower will produce a worse burn rather than a better one. Give 8x and 12x a go. You could also give some Taiyo Yuden 8x DVD-R (TYG02 dye) discs a go - burn them at the full 8x.

As for the 2nd attempt... you can't normally reuse a disc once it's failed, throw it in the bin.

I 16:39:42 Destination Device: [3:1:0] LITE-ON DVDRW SHM-165P6S MS0P (D:) (ATA)

There's also firmware MS0R available for your burner. Remove any disc and close the tray before updating. Reboot after it has finished.

Also, in the future, please don't hijack other people's thread, as this only makes it more difficult to help everyone.
