colli003 Posted February 13, 2009 Share Posted February 13, 2009 (edited) hello everyone, i'm not very technically savy, but i am trying to burn some of my mom's old home movies to dvd for her. I had a nec 3530a 104c that would only burn the first layer of a verb dl at 2.4x then it would fail with a write, sync, atip, medium error. So i bought a new pioneer dvr-116dbk had problems so flashed it to version 1.09. still having problems. My drive will write to a sony rw and to a sony +r disc, but will not write to any dl disc i have tried (two different spindles of verb dl made in singapore and memorex dl {i know memorex was a waste of money, i'm learning }) at 2.4x. Cynthia Posted February 13, 2009 Share Posted February 13, 2009 Hi and welcome to the forum, colli003! ImgBurn can create ISO files. I guess it's a DVD movie you are trying to burn? if so - you can have the layer-break set where you wish it to be. Can you check if you have any 'odd' stuff installed, by posting this information. Main Menu -> Tools -> Filter Driver Load Order; in that window - press the 'Copy To Clipboard' button and paste the info into a posting window here. Pioneers generally likes speed. 6x is generally crappy on most writers. 2,4x/4x/8x are the ones that should work best. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Posted February 13, 2009 Share Posted February 13, 2009 If you've tried 2 spindles of singapore made verb dl's and you've tried burning at all the supported write speeds, it's time to consider the drive 'dead'. To be sure though, put the drive in another pc and check it still fails. Cynthia Posted February 14, 2009 Share Posted February 14, 2009 my pioneer is jumpered as cs it is the only drive on my ide cable. at one time i had my old drive in the slave position but currently have it removed. (which upon restart requires me to press F1 in order to ignore the fact that it cant find the slave drive) I doubt it will do any difference, but set it as master instead.
