Ripping DVD to ISO - only first portion of DVD ripped?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Trying to rip my DVD collection, but after the fourth DVD i noticed that the ISO files are all of same size!

2.303.698 KB to be exact. Turns out the ISO image (when played back in VLC) stops about 30 mins into the movie.

From the example in the log, I'm guessing the ISO image should have been 6.648.823.808 bytes in size?

From the logs:

[cut]

Mine says;

COMPAQ DVD-ROM SR-8584A a14D (ATA)

Current Profile: Unknown (Not Supported)

But also this caught my eye

TOC Information:

Session 1... (LBA: 0 - 1151849)

-> Track 01 (Mode ???, LBA: 0 - 1151848)

-> LeadOut (LBA: 1151849)

Compared to yours below TOC - Mode is unknown?

TOC Information:

Session 1... (LBA: 0)

-> Track 01 (Mode 1, LBA: 0 - 4133423)

-> LeadOut (LBA: 4133424)

So I'm guessing;

1) My drive is not supported

Why?

Drivers? Firmware?

Or is COMPAQ DVD-ROM SR-8584A a14D (ATA) simply a piece of really old hardware from back in the days? :-)

Works fine on my t60 thinkpad;

I've never seen a DVD drive that didn't support the 'GET CONFIGURATION' MMC command.... until today that is!

A firmware update might fix it but I doubt you'll find one.

Sessions: 0

Obviously that's bogus info. There must be at least 1 for there to be any data on the disc!

Sectors: 3.252.160

...

-> Track 01 (Mode ???, LBA: 0 - 1151848)

Those two should say the same thing (number wise - but 1 sector out because one is a total and the other shows the last in the range).

ImgBurn uses the TOC values when reading the individual tracks - because it has to!

Thanks Cynthia and UK :-)

I'll start by trying new drivers, and perhaps upgrade the drive whenever - but seriously, who uses dvd drives today anyway? =)

Keep up the good work, and thanks again.
