  1. This is FAR from new. It's point 3 in the 'pinned' thread.
  2. The error you've got there isn't one you'd typically get first - but it often follows another one. Go into the settings and hit the 'Restore Defaults' button, then click 'Yes'. Close the program, open it up again and burn another disc. Post another log if it fails. After that though, if the drive just won't burn RITEK-S04 then there isn't anything I can do about it. It's purely a drive/firmware/media combo issue.
  3. Works fine here... and I'm pretty damn sure I'd have heard about the problem before now if it really was a problem - 2.5.5.0 has been out for months. Out of interest, do the 'start' buttons within the other modes have their little pictures?
  4. Happy Birthday! Sorry I missed saying it on the day... had computer issues!
  5. Just because some discs work in one drive doesn't mean they'll work in another. Things just don't work like that I'm afraid.
  6. If it burns and verifies ok, it's out of ImgBurn's hands. (You didn't post a log, so we can't tell) Use Taiyo Yuden CDs as they're the best. Make sure the firmware on your burner is up-to-date.
  7. DirectShow should still be processing them and outputting in stereo - as that's a requirement for CD-DA. Oh well, I guess it's not!
  8. As that thread says, if they burn and verify ok, ImgBurn did its job. You're on your own for everything else I'm afraid.

  10. No, the supported speeds are controlled by the drive's firmware.
  11. That's true for DVD+R/RW but not DVD-R/RW
  12. It doesn't matter what content you're burning, the drive doesn't know or care about that info. Drives can create their best quality burns at *any* one of the supported write speeds. Without burning at each speed with your drive/firmware/media combo and then testing those discs (using Opti Drive Control/DVDInfoPro/CDSpeed), you have no way of knowing which is the best one to use. The firmware I mentioned is what controls your burner (think of it as some software running inside the drive). It has nothing to do with media or your playback device.
  13. There's nothing you can do about it. Your choices are 4x, 6x and 8x. Selecting anything other than those will still result in one of those being used. This is down to the firmware and nothing to do with ImgBurn. Burn at the speed producing the best quality burns - slower doesn't always equal better.
  14. If your drive can't burn the best DL discs on the market, try cleaning it with a cleaning disc or get a new drive.
  15. I'm sure Acronis can support their product better than I can.
  16. It means you can't store files larger than 4GB in size on your E: drive - because it's formatted using FAT32 (rather than NTFS). Convert it to NTFS or just ignore the message if you have no intention of saving massive (4GB+ in size) files on it.
  17. USB 1.0 can only do 1MB/s, that's why you can only reach 0.7x. You need to get yourself a USB 2.0 card (you won't have PCIe slots I doubt so USB 3.0 is out of the question) and attach the drive to that. See if you can find one on ebay or something that uses an NEC chipset.
  18. Use a proper hdd backup/clone program, not ImgBurn. Something like Macrium Reflect should do the job - or stick with Acronis if you have the actual program.
  19. Interesting, I've not seen a PCIe card with the Sil3124 chipset on it before. The Sil3124 is PCI/PCI-X only (i.e. no real PCIe support)... I guess that's why there's another chip on the board with a heatsink - to provide a PCIe -> PCI/PCI-X bridge. I think I'd prefer a real PCIe implementation via the Sil3132 chipset - but that only has 2 ports and not 4.
  20. I need the statusbar message from when it's stuck of its own accord... not when you've tried to close it
  21. It's not displayed when doing a normal 'silent' install (a feature of all NSIS installers). You just pass /S in the command line to the setup exe.
  22. What exactly is the problem here? Is it just stuck there? If so, what's the message in the status bar at the bottom of the main window?
  23. Burn using the ISO9660 + Joliet file systems.
