  1. Anyone? I will buy an external burner if I really have to, but I'd rather see if anyone has any suggestions about fixing this...
  2. So there is no way of solving this? The laptop is only a year old... The reason I mentioned DeepBurner above was because I thought the program itself was burning correctly, but the TDK media was what corrupted files. Edit: It gets stranger. Tried to burn the .iso to a Verbatim using DeepBurner and it completed the burn (at 2x though). Then I verified it through ImgBurn, and it came back succesful. Was able to load the disc and files on it fine on the Dell, but when trying to load it on an IBM ThinkPad with Linux installed, it just refused to read it.
  3. Thanks for the suggestion Unfortunately only creates a different problem. Log: I 22:37:43 ImgBurn Version 2.3.2.0 started! 4. OK, after the advice given in the last thread, I bought some Verbatim's 16x DVD-Rs, and tried them out. I keep on getting write errors at different stages of the burn (3%, 80% etc). I have tried 3 Verbatim discs and 1 TDK. I have tried two different images, same error. I tried another type of media (TDK), same error. Firmware is up to date (I think.. Dell's site isn't amazingly accessible). Drive details + log below. btw: DeepBurner worked fine before with the TDK media. Only been having this problem with ImgBurn. DeepBurner only ever reached 2x though, and even though the burns completed, there were obviously some issues with them (a fair few of the files on the discs were corrupted) Drive: SONY DVD+-RW DW-Q58A UDS2 (ATA) The computer is a laptop: Dell Inspiron 1300. 5. Thanks for the help guys. I'm currently in Australia and have just picked up a spool of 50 Verbatim DVD-Rs. Not too hard to find decent media, but harder than the UK... To expand on the DVD storage - I have one of those cases, but have always been worried that if you are constantly slipping the discs in and out of the pockets that they could get damaged.
  6. First off, loving ImgBurn - another great product from LIGHTNINGUK 1. I have read around here that Taiyo Yuden are the best DVDs to buy, but I'm having trouble finding them. Are Verbatims as good? I'm only doing single layer burns so no need for DL media.. 2. Whats the best way to store DVDs? I'm currently using a dvd wallet sort of thing, but not sure if this is a good option for long term storage. Been having all sorts of problems recently, I've backed up a ton of files to about 20 discs only to find out its crap media (TDK), all burnt using DeepBurner which reported no problems with any of them... First burn I try with ImgBurn and it reports a ton of read errors To the shops!
