  1. OK. So why when I burn the image with nero or imgburn or cloneDVD the disc is not finalized and I get some errors but when I do it manually it works? You said "The internet is full of examples and there is plenty of information on what to do with disc's recorded on home dvd recorders" I didn't record the dvd on my home dvd. I did it on my PC. And I forgot to say but one of the 3 verbatims was burned on my other PC (because I thought that the first system I used may have some problems) and I got the same error but I fixed it like I did with the others. and BTW the people of my village know I'm missing because they sent me to look for you. is the third time you got lost and they want you back. And please, don't continue with more comments. Let the others decide if what I said is helpful or not. let's let this topic just to be read. If you want to discuss with me here is my yahoo messenger id tygr_bloo@yahoo.com
  2. I'm not bigheaded and I'm not rude an I certainly I did not invent the wheel. I didn't said that imgburn is bad. I'm still using it. I just said that I found a solution to this problem I had (and maybe many other people have or had) and this solution wasn't given to me since I first posted on this forum. That's all. I chose to share it to help the others and as an alternative solution to "use only verbatim 2.4x made in singapore (by the way, I couldn't find any in my city) and not to get rude remarks from someone who uses this forum to write useless comments just to say the opposite. Anyone who thinks my solution isn't good, just try it.You may have a surprise. And by the way, you have nothing to lose.
  3. first of all: I didn' post this solution so you can comment upon it. I post it as a solution to my problem so that other people who had the same problem can use it. second: I didn't say it was a problem with imgburn. I got the problem when using imgburn, nero and clonedvd2. I finalized the discs made with nero and clonedvd by using imgburn and I finalized discs made with imgburn by using nero. third: I noticed that when finalizing the disc manually, the program filled the remaining space on the DVD. On the discs with the 5.5 gb it took a while to fill it but on the 8 gb discs it was much faster. fourth: I am sorry I didn't think about this solution sooner because, several years ago, when I bought an mp3 system, it wouldn't read my mp3 discs. But I read in the manual that the discs had to be finalized in order to be read. So I finalized all my mp3 cd's manually and it worked. It seems that this also works for the video DVD's. And, as I said, I manged to repair all 5 discs2 maxell (ritek) and 3 verbatim. It seems that the media you are using isn't much of a difference. If this solution helps you, ok. I am glad I could help. A simple "thanks" is enough. Don't need comments from the people who didn't have this problem or forgot that a multisession disc can be closed manually. Sa fiti sanatosi!
  4. hello! as I posted before, I had this problem: "could not finalize disc". I tried on 5 different DVD DL disk (2 maxell 2.4x and 3 verbatim 8x). Every time, the same error ( with nero and imgburn). no one and I repeat, NO ONE!!! on this forum could tell me what to do so that my dvd player (samsung hr753) could play the content from both layers (and not only from the first). But the solution was so simple... FINALIZE THE DVD MANUALLY. one image file was 5,5 gb and I finalized it with nero 9 (continue multisession -> burn -> write+finalize) the other image files was 8,07 gb and I finalized it with imgburn (tools-> drive-> close-> session This method worked on all five discs I tought were ruined and now they are played perfectly. So listen to me: DON'T THROW AWAY THE DISCS even if you got that error.
  5. I already did that and I got the same errors. I also got these errors on a MAXEL DVD+R DL 2.4x. I burned the image on a verbatim 8x using CLONEDVD2 and it burned with no errors, the DVD plays OK on my PC but it doesn't play at all on the DVD PLAYER (samsung). On another DVD PLAYER (E-BODA -made in romania) it plays but only the first layer.
  6. Hello! I bought Verbatim DVD+R DL 8x and I tried to burn a DVD Video image but I got this errors: "Potential 'WaitImmediateIO' Deferred Error" "Synchronise Cache Failed!" "Close Track Failed!" "Finalise Disc Failed! ". When I try to play the DVD on my computer it works fine (both layers are read). But when I try to play it on my DVD PLAYER (Samsung DVD-HR753) it plays only the first layer and when it reaches the second layer it stops and jumps to the menu. Here is the LOG: I 18:43:33 ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 started! 7. DVD Rebuilder should handle it nicely... Take your pick...I post again ~ http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=1780 You are choosing the MDS file to burn from, which you should, and it (should) contains the proper layer break information. This is the first we've heard about XBOX issues....you have to set the layer break at 1913760 or you are pissing in the wind and wasting a disc regarding Xbox. Movies you can use the preview to select the best layer break position so that you don't get a 'jump' in a action sequence or whot not. There is no magic number for movies. Yes Yes I don't get "a jump" in the movie. The movie frezees.Period. If I select a scene in the menu which is on the second layer, it doesn't play it.
  8. Can anyone tell me about the layer brek? Which is best ? to leave it on auto or to set the sectors manually?
  9. I FOUND THIS IN IMGBURN LOG 19:11:03 ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 started! 10. You can find it at the Asus homepage. At this place: "Location: Download> Optical Storage> DRW-2014L1T". http://support.asus.com/download/download....SLanguage=en-us http://dlsvr04.asus.com/pub/ASUS/ODD/DVD-R...2014L1T_102.zip SORRY. I FORGOT TO MENTION THAT I UPDATED THE FIRMWARE TO VERSION 1.02 BEFORE BURNING THE SECOND DISK WITH IMG BURN. I THINK THAT MY PROBLEM CONCERNS THE BURNING OF THE SECOND LAYER. AND I'M VERY SORRY BUT I DIDN'T SAVE THE IMGBURN LOG. ALL I HAVE IS THE NERO LOG.
  11. Hello. I have a problem burning a downloaded ISO file to a DVD+R DL. The ISO it'a a movie and it is about 7.2 Gb. I have ASUS DRW-2014L1T and I used MAXELL DVD+R DL 2.4X. I used nero 7 and I got 2 errors (i could not set the speed lower than 4 x) : "could not perform end of DAO" and "Power calibration error". I inserted back the DVD and it didn't play automatically in windows (as it usually does when i insert a DVD movie). I managed to open it with media player but I could only play 12 chapters out of 16. I took out the DVD and put it back (still no autoplay) and it worked fine (all 16 chapters) But when I inserted the DVD in another PC, it looked as the media was empty. Then I inserted the DVD in my DVD Player ( a samsung) and it played aroud 50 minutes and then it froze. I installed ImgBurn and I tried to write another movie ISO file (about 5.2 Gb). I used the same media. I set the speed to 2.4X. I left the layer brake to auto. At the end I got 2 errors: could not perform end of DAO -or something like that (the session could not be closed) and cache syncronization error (though this last error occured when i burned a single layer dvd rw and it worked fine).Anyways, i inserted the dvd back, no auto play but media player played it ok with no problem from the begining to the end. My other PC saw it as a blank media and the samsung DVD player froze after 50 minutes or so. I need you to help me and tell me what to do to write this images with no problem because I want them played on a DVD PLAYER, not the PC. Thank You!
