  1. Yes, Shamus, but... have you ever seen a result where the disk ended up completely blank instead of a coaster? If it's trying to write data and the process isn't working it should destroy the disk (for CD-R's anyway). At least that's the result I've always seen on a failed burn, until now. Thus leading me to believe that the problem lies with the software or the writing mechanism in the drive itself. No need to be condescending in your reply. -------- Update: The disk that failed to have anything written to it in my laptop (the above log) burned fine and verified on another computer. Hard to believe that if any writing occured at all (even failed) that it wouldn't have coastered this disk. Any ideas?
  2. I don't believe that drive has burnt disks from that spindle before... my family has been successfully using them on our other computer to burn audio cds, etc. They are Memorex x52 700 MB disks, I figured they should burn fine on anything, but not sure if they have that dye you are speaking of. I will try another type of disc, though.
  3. I've tried x16 instead of x24. Also tried another disc, same results, though from the same stack (same manufacturer, etc.). The thing that gets me though is that there is nothing on the disc, still registers as blank. Maybe the write function is fubar on my dvd writer? I can try the disc on another computer, I'm confident it will burn ok, but something to confirm at least...
  4. Here is one of the burn sessions that has the verify afterwards: ; //****************************************\\; ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 - Log ; Monday, 09 March 2009, 23:12:10 ; \\****************************************// ; ; I 22:58:32 ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 started! 5. Hello, I'm trying to burn an iso file to a blank CD. I'm selecting the option to burn image to disk, the info shows that there is a blank CDR in the DVD drive with 700 MB free and 655 MB file. I click to burn the image and the drive spins up, it takes maybe 5 mins and goes through the process of burning, constantly increasing the percentage and the file location in the progress area. But when I get done, there is nothing on the disk. It still shows up as empty. The disk has 0 bytes on it, verify fails immediately. I ran across a post that suggested making sure the IMAPI CD Burning service was up - this was disabled, and I have since enabled it, rebooted, started it manually. Running another CD burning utility the service actually turned off when the burn process started (in the services window went from 'started' to just blank). Running Imgburn it stays as 'started' throughout the entire process. I've tried raw, PQ, and session write methods. All have the same result, nothing actually gets written to the CD. Can anyone help? Any ideas? It's possible I removed a service or driver or something fighting with a vundofix virus a while back. Anything else I can check into, I"m at a loss.
