  1. Ok, I see which way the wind blows here. I'm not rebuilding my (standard) software environment in order to circumvent the deficiencies in this software. I'll just sign off by saying that any prospective user of this software who is browsing this forum should take note, and AVOID THIS PRODUCT AT ALL COSTS AS IT DOES NOT SEEM ABLE TO HANDLE A VANILLA DELL XP HOME PC. DO NOT DONATE.
  2. Dear mmvalves, The fix you refer to does NOT work on XP Home. This is what I sort of referred to in my first post, and is also what the poster in the other thread mentioned and was not happy about. Since then a resounding silence from the software author. I'm astonished by the software authors response to this issue in the FAQ's. Which is DON'T BLAME ME, BLAME MICROSOFT. Exceuse me, but whilst none of us are apologists for Microsoft, Windows XP has worked this way from day zero. ImgBurn has the problem, not Microsoft. Other CD burning software appears to handle security issues adequately in XP so why can't ImgBurn?
  3. Hi: I'm a new user and installed ImgBurn this afternoon. However it fails to work on any user account that does not possess adminsitrator privileges - I get the message that "you need admin privileges to use STP1 - No devices detected". I searched the forum and found a thread where somebody has the identical problem, who pointed out that the "workaround" for this issue provided by ImgBurn does not work. (exckoman 12/2/09). He received the suggestion that he modify the registry instead! I can't find any other refrences to this issue on these forums which I find odd as my PC configuration is quite ordinary (see below). Is it really being recommended that users should play around with the registry in order to get this software to work in a normal XP environment?
