  1. Thanks LUK

Firstly how do i do this bit ?

To test, you need to make it so that any _0.VOB file it makes is < 32k in size.

Do i just compress to max ?

I just did one in recode and the _0.BUP is 74 K ?

There is no _0.VOB only _1,_2,_3,_4.VOB's but there is an _0.IFO ?

  2. I believe i am right in saying that DVDShrink doesnt fully support the ISO File system, read somewhere about a 32K chunk with a gap which isnt correct.

What i dont know (and cant find out) is if Recode 2 suffers from the same problem or has this bug been fixed (when you make an NRG file) ?

    Opinions please :)

  3. I was thinking on these lines too

What about instead of cluttering up GUI's and having extra confusing (to some people) extra tick/drop down boxes some sort of import system through like a (dos based example) .bat file ?

Ie if the files not there imgburn runs as per normal

if the file (MyDefaults.imgburnfil) has been made and edited by the user ie Burn speed for say TYG02 on a Pioneer A10XL or whatever then ImgBurn loads this as the default for that media ?

You could have defaults in the file for DVD, Cd and different media and speeds that you prefer

    just a thought :P

  4. If i open a particular *.BIN file with imgburn (Its an image to create a ps2 firmware boot disk), ImgBurn tells me that it is

    Sectors: 16129 Mode 2 / Form 1 / 2352

Which according to the help file with the firmware is correct (they use nero in there example)

However if i use Magic ISO to convert the BIN to an ISO and then use ImgBurn to open it i get

    Sectors: 16129 Mode 1 / 2048

My Question is will there be any difference to the Burnt disk using the ISO against the BIN ? Or have i converted it wrongly ?

  5. On my Xp installation its

Start > Help & Support > Performance and Maintenance > Using System restore to undo changes >

    Run the system restore wizard

Then click the "Create a restore point" Bullet

Name it summin like "Restore before installing blah blah blah"

  6. Great!

This feels kind of like playing russian roulette...I never know when it's gonna blow. :)

When you hear a bang youll know you've hit the culprit!

    [Tip on]

If you are not already then make a system restore point before installing each bit of culprit software, that way when you find it if the uninstall doesnt work, you can go back to a restore point..........

    [Tip off]

    Frank

A man walks into the street and manages to get a taxi just going by. He gets into the taxi, and the cabbie says, "Perfect timing. You're just like Frank."

    Passenger: "Who?"

Cabbie: "Frank Feldman. There's a guy who did everything right. Like my coming along when you needed a cab. It would have happened like that to Frank every single time."

Passenger: "There are always a few clouds over everybody."

Cabbie: "Not Frank. He was a terrific athlete. He could have won the Grand-Slam at tennis. He could golf with the pros. He sang like an opera baritone and danced like a Broadway star and you should have heard him play the piano."

Passenger: "Sounds like he was something really special"

Cabbie: "There's more"......."He had a memory like a computer. Could remember everybody's birthday. He knew all about wine, which foods to order and which fork to eat them with. He could fix anything. Not like me. I change a fuse, and the whole street blacks out."

    Passenger. "Wow, some bloke then".

Cabbie: "He always knew the quickest way to go in traffic and avoid traffic jams, not like me, I always seem to get stuck in them."

"Passenger. "Mmm, there's not many like him around."

Cabbie: "And he knew how to treat a woman and make her feel good and never answer her back even if she was in the wrong; and his clothing was always immaculate, shoes highly polished too."

Passenger: "An amazing fellow. How did you meet him?"

Cabbie: "Well, I never actually met Frank."

Passenger: "Then how do you know so much about him?"

Cabbie: "I married his f*****g widow."

  7. I suggest you take your last CMC MAG DVD and write on it to keep track of how many bad burns you have had. =))

I cant as i only have one cmc mag left (a datawrite) and its got my pint of fosters on it :drinks:

  8. Now i know ImgBurn burns images, so dont flame me !

The fact ImgBurn burns images is great, now i have always kept 90% of my backups as ISO's on DVD's so to make the backup in the first place i have to burn the ISO (and MDS) in Nero as a DVD UDF file type.

I dont know how easy or complicated it is but is it possible that ImgBurn could do this in a future release ?

Then i could dump nero totally!

  9. Hmm... The question I have though is why use media you have to play around with to get a decent result? I?ve never set the write speed for a burn yet ---- I digress...

I dont play around as such

I only use TYG02 or MCC03RG20 the TY is DVD-R8X and will burn at up to 12X

The MCC can be burnt at up to 16X

I have run various burns at 4,6,8,12 for the TY and 4,6,8,12,16 for the MCC and found for my purpose i get a much better burn by setting the TY to 6X burns and the MCC at 8X burns, for me and my drives i get the best results and scans consistenly that way.

  10. Not sure if this is implemented as i havn't done a queued burn yet, looking at the guide i cant see the option,

But if you set up to burn from the queue can you choose different write speeds for wach burn ?

reason i ask is I use only TYG02 which i burn at 6X and MCC03RG20 which i burn at 8x as i have found this gives me the best results from my drives. So it would be handy to specify the write speed for each burn in the queue if different media is used..............

    Thoughts ?

  11. In the Uk, just get the 1640, its an ace drive, use mine mainly for scanning and burning dvd+r's with book type set to roms

The light scribe............................ Well just buy a cdr pen and write on your disks, i even have a penceil now to recored my failure rate

cant find where i got mine form but these chaps list one

    http://www.gltec.co.uk/productinfo.php?id=550

If you are just into burning and dont require scanning then my favourite at present is the 110D cross flashed to the A10XL Buffalo 8.37............................or just get both!

  12. FIVE MINUTES

This is half an hour. It is equivalent to the five minutes that your football game is going to last before you take out the trash, so it's an even trade.

    OH REALLY

The response you get if you are dumb enough to tell her that her "five minutes" is equivalent to your "five minutes". This will be shortly followed by:

    GO ON (With Raised Eyebrows)

Never let a conversation get to this point. It doesn't matter whether you now persist in trying to sell your statement or backdown and acknowledge defeat. You are now on a one way track to one of those arguments that end in "fine".

You have met my missus then ?

  13. A biology teacher wished to demonstrate to his students the harmful effects of alcohol on living organisms. For his experiment, he showed them a beaker with pond water in which there was a thriving civilization of worms. When he added some alcohol into the beaker the worms doubled-up and died.

"Now," he said,? what do you learn from this?"

An eager student gave his answer.

"Well the answer is obvious," he said " if you drink alcohol, you'll never have worms."

  14. FINE

This is the word women use to end an argument when they feel they are right and you need to shut up. Never use "fine" to describe how a woman looks - this will cause you to have one of those arguments.

    FIVE MINUTES

This is half an hour. It is equivalent to the five minutes that your football game is going to last before you take out the trash, so it's an even trade.

    NOTHING

This means "something," and you should be on your toes. "Nothing" is usually used to describe the feeling a woman has of wanting to turn you inside out, upside down, and backwards. "Nothing" usually signifies an argument that will last "Five Minutes" and end with "Fine"

    GO AHEAD (With Raised Eyebrows)

This is a dare. One that will result in a woman getting upset over "Nothing" and will end with the word "Fine"

    GO AHEAD (Normal Eyebrows)

This means "I give up" or "do what you want because I don't care" You will get a "Raised Eyebrow Go Ahead" in just a few minutes, followed by "Nothing" and "Fine" and she will talk to you in about "Five Minutes" when she cools off.

    LOUD SIGH

This is not actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A "Loud Sigh" means she thinks you are an idiot at that moment, and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you over "Nothing"

    SOFT SIGH

Again, not a word, but a non-verbal statement. "Soft Sighs" mean that she is content. Your best bet is to not move or breathe, and she will stay content.

    THAT'S OKAY

This is one of the most dangerous statements that a woman can make to a man. "That's Okay" means that she wants to think long and hard before paying you back for whatever it is that you have done. "That's Okay" is often used with the word "Fine" and in conjunction with a "Raised Eyebrow."

    GO AHEAD!

At some point in the near future, you are going to be in some mighty big trouble.

    PLEASE DO

This is not a statement, it is an offer. A woman is giving you the chance to come up with whatever excuse or reason you have for doing whatever it is that you have done. You have a fair chance with the truth, so be careful and you shouldn't get a "That's Okay"

    THANKS

A woman is thanking you. Do not faint. Just say you're welcome.

    THANKS A LOT

This is much different from "Thanks." A woman will say, "Thanks A Lot" when she is really ticked off at you. It signifies that you have offended her in some callous way, and will be followed by the "Loud Sigh." Be careful not to ask what is wrong after the "Loud Sigh," as she will only tell you "Nothing"

  15. Just a thought, dont know if its feasible or worth while doing..............

I use generally only 2 brands of disks mainly being TY

Would it be possible to have a resettable counter in Image Burn to count the number of good burns after verify against the number of bad ones ?

That way when i have burnt 100 TY's i have a counter to show 98% pass rate or whatever ?
