  1. I'd also be looking at something interfering with the read of that file (be it antivirus or HDD on it's last legs), as the lines below indicate issues with being able to read enough of the files in fast enough to keep the memory buffers full... The question then is would ImgBurn give the "Waiting for hard disk activity to reach threshold level" warning if the issue was to do with trying to do re-reads, or is that soely triggered by excessing disk activity/thrashing... if the latter, something else is/was running amok on your system. If the former, you'll want to ran chkdsk from the command line with the "/B" (for bad sector check) and "/R" (for repair) flags, and be prepared to be without the computer for a couple of hours, as since it's the C: drive you need to scan, Windows will need to reboot and run the chkdsk as part of pre-boot so no other software can interfere.

  2. You could probably mount the NRG files using Daemon Tools, and then using ImgBurn to create a CUE+BIN file in order to save the multi-session data. You would also be able to mount the bin files using daemon tools at a later time if you needed to mount them virtually. Pretty much the only tools that completely works with NRGs is Nero - most other (non-propriety) tools work with ISOs (single track data) and CUE+BIN (raw/multi-track/audio cd) files.

  3. What I would really like to do is drag and drop the folders and then open each folder in the ImgBurn list and delete the files I don't want. Is there any way to do this, or is there any other way to achieve the same end?

    Sounds like what you'd want is ImgBurn's Disc Layout Editor...

    1. Start Imgburn

    2. Change to Build Mode (Mode -> Build)

    3. Half-way down on the left side of the ImgBurn window, below the Test Mode checkbox, click on the left icon (Switch to advanced input)

    4. A big button 'Show Disc Layout Editor' will replace the file list, and when clicked, will give you a Windows Explorer like interface to drag 'n' drop and otherwise manipulate your project. You'll be able to delete, move, rename files, etc.

  4. Love the new ImgBurn v2.5 - the disc layout editor is simple and just works! Now all I need is multisession support and I can get finally get rid of CDBurnerXPPro and use Imgburn for all my CD/DVD needs... :hint: :hint: :whistling:

  5. your argument for pupply linux falls down cos you can run it from flash memory

    Not to start a slanging match, but that statement is inherently wrong. You are not even considering the fact that not all computers can boot from USB drives, and therefore multisession boot CDs like Puppy Linux are still very essential.

    On the topic of multisession discs, there are very useful when making incremental backups, so you don't need to waste discs unnecessarily. I am currently considering using multisession recording for Xvid files I am creating from TV recordings, and want to add each weeks recording to the disc until the disc is full, and then close it. It just seems daft to a) keep all the files on HDD until the disc is full or B) keep copying the files from the disc to the HDD each week, adding that weeks file to the set and burning it all back to disc (also meaning I would have to be using DVD-RW).

    I just don't have the disc space at the moment to be keep the files on HDD all the time - I'm working with up to 20GB of video footage a day - and that's just raw - never mind editing/trimming & converting!

    Anyway, that's just my opinion... doesn't mean I'm write or wrong... or that anyone else is either!

  6. The balloon only comes up if the app is in the system tray - but it's only there for 10 seconds and so easily missed.

    The message box pops up regardless of application state.

    There's nothing in the code to tell it to shove the message to the front of the z order, that's something windows appears to be doing all by itself.

    btw, I just built a few test images and the 'operation successfully completed' box didn't pop to the front of the z order for me, my currently active window (which happened to be IE) stayed at the front.

    Thanks LUK, look like I'll have to hunt down whatever is making that dialog go in front of the current window. I just got really annoying when playing Warcraft or NFS and then Imgburn bought the game out of full screen mode just to say the burn was successful! :D

  7. Whenever I have imgburn writing a disc, and I am running something else, the 'Operation Successfully Completed' message pops up ontop of what ever I'm running (speak of the devil - it just poped up then!).

    This becomes a nusiance when running full screen-apps (games/movies) and then imgburn suddenly pops up the success message, taking the app currenlty running out of full-screen mode. Is there an option to stop this behaviour that I've missed? It would be ok if the dialog still appeared, just not becoming the currently focused item. It would also be nice if there was an option to not show the dialog at all - all these sucess messages can get annoying :)

    Just noticed that when Imgburn is minimised to the system tray, it displays a balloon tip from the tray instead of the operation successful dialog - have to see if this works.

    EDIT: Ok, it seems I lied, that dratted dialog poped up again, I just didn't see it. Is there really a need to be told twice that the burn was successful?

    Running Imgburn v2.1 on Windows XP SP2 (Home)

  8. The shell is found at the bottom of this page: http://www.svcd2dvd.com/

    You'll also have to have Net 2.0 installed.

    this is from a search with Google

    Thanks polo, I must have used the wrong keywords, as I couldn't find anything in a quick search using google.

    I have this strange aversion to the .NET framework (all versions), and so may have to write something to do this myself. Time will tell (and so will life, as it has a strange habit of getting in the way :) )

  9. Blu is spot on, if you compared an identical burn from Nero with ImgBurn you should see that the time taken to burn the same data would be very similar. With Nero you think you're getting 16x from the off but you really aren't..... :)

    @Travman,

    I've mention this before at http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=2055, but you want to add or change the following registry key to make nero report the real (live) burn speed. This worked for versions 5 and 6, but I don't know if it still does for v7 (but its worth trying if your running v7).

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ahead\Nero - Burning Rom\Recorder]

    "ShowSingleRecorderSpeed"=dword:00000001

    Nero_Live_CD_Burning_Speed.reg.txt

  10. Nero always says it's burning at the speed you selected, it doesn't mean it really is.

    Don't know if this still works for v7, but adding/changing the following (and attached) registry key makes nero 6 display the real (current) burn speed.

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ahead\Nero - Burning Rom\Recorder]

    "ShowSingleRecorderSpeed"=dword:00000001

    Nero_Live_CD_Burning_Speed.reg.txt

  11. Are those logs stored somewhere??or will I need to attempt another burn?

    If you haven't saved the log file after the burn buy clicking on the File -> Save Command of the Imgburn Log window, you'll have to risk another burn to show us the log. If you can't see the log window, click on the View -> Log option.

    Peter

  12. 'Sectors To Load' should be on 4.

    Incase that makes a difference!

    I hope you're testing this stuff on CD-RW's ;)

    @Lightning UK,

    I just tried it my self, making ISO files and seeing if VirtualPC would boot off them, and I couldn't get it to work using custom emulation, and sectors to load: 4. (!) I then found a few more settings to change, and the iso booted, so I included the project file as an attachment.

    On the options tab, the file system was set as ISO + Joliet, and the include hidden and include system files options were ticked, and on the restrictions tab, I ticked: "Don't Add ;1 Version numbers to file names", ISO Level 2 - 31 characters.

    The project file has a few restrictions relaxed, but these are the only ones that need to be ticked for the CD to boot.

    PS: Like the "Average Write Rate: 16,830 KB/s (112.2x) - Maximum Write Rate: 35,291 KB/s (235.3x)" burns! :D

    WinXPboot.ibb.txt

  13. When I try to update the NEC - it asks me what drive to update - ? The only NEC firmware that I have is for my digital camera. Or - am I looking in the wrong place?

    @MichelleW,

    Just select the NEC DVD burner that you wish to update when the update asks you which drive to update. This is just in case you have multiple drives, or multiple NEC drives and want to update a specific one.

    Peter

  14. If you minize to tray nothing bad happens right..

    @davidw89,

    Only good comes of this option, as ImgBurn occupies a very small space on the system tray, instead of hogging a button on the taskbar. Just double-click on the icon to restore ImgBurn to view.

    regards,

    Peter

  15. ... What would it hurt to have the option?

    @calweycn,

    You've already heard the decision by the person investing the time and effort to write the program you're criticizing, so please shut up if you've got nothing better to say to the experienced forum members who have been here, supporting LightingUK! since before ImgBurn existed, and also taking the time to support other newcomers like myself. I, also, might like to see an option like the one you suggested, but once Lightning UK! has ruled it out, I'm not going to continue pestering him and abusing other forum members like you have. If you don't mind your manners, Lightning UK! may have to resort to banning you from this forum.

    Thats all I have to say, and If you reply to this, you are just proving my point, which is that you can't accept any criticism at all, and can't accept it if somebody says "no" to you.

  16. 2.1? I'm waiting for 3.0! With automatic CMC disc detection and replacement feature. =))

    Why not just wait for v4.0, with automatic CMC disc disintegration, and automatic ring for more supplies (cd/dvd and beer) features! :thumbup:

    =)) =)) =))

    I see that LUK! had to severley reprimand (:whack:) Blu for over-anticipation! Better luck next time! (!) :)

  17. volvofl10,

    I understand that older versions of imgburn are unsupported, I was just wondering if it was possible to host them incase anyone wants the old versions for some odd reason. I could state on my site that they are no longer supported, and to get the latests releases if you want support.

    If not, would there be any problems hosting/mirroring the latests releases?

    I would just like to add that I appreciate the work that Lightning UK! and the beta testing group did on this newest and so far the best version of ImgBurn.

    regards,

    Peter

  18. I was told ImgBurn will burn Nero .nrg images to CD. However, when I try to do this, it gives me an error message: "Invalid or unsupported image file format!" I have the file association set to recognize nrg images. How do I fix this?

    As far as I'm aware (and I could be wrong), Imgburn can only burn single session *.nrg images. So if you're trying to burn a multisession or audio nrg, Imgburn can't use it.

  19. Lightning UK,

    I also would appreaciate it if you can give an rough estimate of ImgBurn v2's release date. If you can't commit to one, how would I get hold of a beta copy of ImgBurn v2 (at my own risk,...)

    regards,

    Peter
