  1. I get that error sometimes on my liteon burning dvd-r not seen it happen with dual layer and not my verbs, i think its a random occurrence, i have tsstcorp drive in as well, mine is sd 163a though. Maybe just coincidence i suspect you will have same program on your computer as well.

Your system Intel or amd the computer i use with samsung drive in is intel.

  2. 1 [iNFODISC-A10-01] not the best Media.

2 Your firmware is out of date Latest is here ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/softpaq/sp28501-29000/SP28709.exe however please verify that you have HP or COMPAQ laptop dvd writer.

3 I would be stopping the use of Any dvd.

If your confident the link i posted is for your version of dvd writer then, exit any programs, anydvd, disable any anti virus program you have running, anything else either exit or disable, do not have a disc in drive when you update it, and that tray is closed.

Make sure there is no interruption to the firmware update process, like battery going flat, electricity supply going out etc.

    At your own risk

  3. xp is fine with memory over 1 gig adn 2 gig and should be ok with 3 gig, however you will only ever see upto 3+ gig if you install 4 gig, Vista does not or rather is no supposed to have this limitation nor the 64 bit version of XP

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/community...win/pw0801.mspx (this says 4 gig limit) xp sets aside certain amounts to the pci bus system etc.

    64 bit xp http://support.microsoft.com/kb/283247/

  4. If after doing everything everyone else has suggested and say a clean reinstall etc you still have same problem, change out the PSU for another with higher output say 550w and one with more than 20A on the 12v line.

I had brand new psu that when CD/DVD/ tray was ejected etc would switch off my monitor, drove me crazy, did not help at time with buggy nvidia gfx card drivers either.

If you also run Norton and you are getting lots of errors with it, change psu.

Edit.. it could also mean dodgy gfx card, make sure all leads that are mean't to be plugged into mobo and gfx card are in.

  5. I,m not sure on the BT thing your on about, as i have wires all over the house, You could buy the wireless kit for xbox 360, think its about 54.99 might be cheaper now.

marshallward catalogue has them for 39.00 which is strange with delivery 42.50, not sure if they sell em without getting catalogue though.

  6. For online play Xbox live is anything from ?24.99 to ?39.99 a year.

I assume your gonna connect 360 LAN via cat5 or above, normal LAN cable distance applies keep length ideally below 100 metres.

You could Use UPnP for xbox live if your router can do it properly, otherwise you would have to open port 3074 TCP and UDP and open port 88 UDP

Your monitor would require you to buy either the Microsoft VGA cable or third party (this is also only option to get 1080p) component cables will only go as high as 1080i (1080i and 720p look identical to me)

I bought a couple of Samsung 940Mw 19"" widescreens TV (Analogue Tuner (Which is supposed to work in any region ) /Monitor, has scart, 1 composite Y/(vid) (Audio)W/R Rca, svideo, (poor) Component, Vga, Dvi (Excellent)

    EDIT

LOL I only clicked the link you had after i posted :D

Another Edit, sound from TV speakers was hell of a lot better than i expected as well, I had no plans of ever using TV speakers as i have 7.1 set up and son has 5.1 but to stop neighbours from phoning police cos they think i have grenades got son to use TV speakers and was very impressed.

Edit I got both of mine from Argos for ?299.99 look what they sell em for now http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5291883.htm

Edit Imagine tv like this http://www.nhk.or.jp/digital/en/superhivision/index.html

  7. so this is via firewire

also the 108 you have, does the whole of the tray/draw open when you eject, or which one of the drives below is yours.

    108/A08

    a08108cs6.jpg

    XL versions B then A

    pioneerdvra08xlb645597vg6.jpg

    xlada1.jpg

  8. It,s probs cos you got an oem version 108 and not the dvr 108

Did it come boxed, NO should mean its pioneer 108.

    Boxed should mean DVR 108

If you do have boxed version, make sure you got the DVR 108 firmware and not the 108

If it is OEM you will need 108 firmware and not DVR 108 firmware.

EDIT ignore above , it's that long since i updated my pioneers, Your ok to use either dvr 108 or a08 firmware, My confusion arises from the fact i own lots of them including the XLB versions of 107 108 etc this firmware is not interchangeable without hacking.

So if you also own the XLB versions you need that firmware and not standard dvr 108 or A08 firmware

  9. If you had XP PRO you could type gpedit.msc in run box and double click administrative templates , click on system, in right hand pane look for turn off auto play click on it and then enable it for CD Roms etc.

I am sure XP Home does not allow this command though.

You may be able to do it using the registry in xp home

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Cdrom.

Double-click the Autorun value, and type 0 for its value

If Autorun is not there create new DWORD value name it Autorun and 0 for the value.

Edit maybe the registry from my xp pro above will not work in Home.

As i found this after i typed it.
