  1. Hi, I have the "DVD+R Reserve Track" checkbox enabled in ImgBurn 1.2.0.0's Write Settings. When I burn an image onto a DVD+ media, I see the "Reserving Track..." stage occuring (before "Filling Buffer...") within ImgBurn's status bar, however it will not be written into the Log window. That's not a big problem of course, but avoids to determine if that feature has been turned on or not when going through saved logs as you can find them here in this forum. Especially when a problem with a DVD+ media occured, that piece of information may help.

  3. OK, I have now figured out how to produce the reports and images found in the "Drives & Media" sub forum, on a DVD created via ImgBurn's Discovery Mode (although I'm sure an explantation would still be helpful for others). Should I post my results there?
  4. I see, thanks for the suggestion. Great, thank! One weird thing is that when a manual try for closing an "Incomplete" DVD failed, it may succeed on a later try. The disc will then be fully recognized and works fine, but ImgBurn reads some strange properties from the "Last Recorded" Physical Format Informations: The full info for that disc is PHILIPS DVDR824DP P3.4 (ATA) Current Profile: DVD+R Disc Information: Status: Complete Erasable: No Sessions: 1 Sectors: 2.285.872 Size: 4.681.465.856 bytes Time: 508:00:22 (MM:SS:FF) Physical Format Information (ADIP): Disc ID: TDK-002-00 Book Type: DVD+R Part Version: 1 Disc Size: 120mm Maximum Read Rate: Not Specified Number of Layers: 1 Track Path: Parallel Track Path (PTP) Linear Density: 0.267 um/bit Track Density: 0.74 um/track First Physical Sector of Data Area: 196.608 Last Physical Sector of Data Area: 2.491.711 Last Physical Sector in Layer 0: 0 Physical Format Information (Last Recorded): Disc ID: =?U6?6??-???-21 Book Type: DVD-ROM Part Version: 6 Disc Size: Reserved (0x08) Maximum Read Rate: 30.24Mbps Number of Layers: Reserved (0x03) Track Path: Opposite Track Path (OTP) Linear Density: 0.293 um/bit Track Density: Reserved (0x08) First Physical Sector of Data Area: 196.608 Last Physical Sector of Data Area: 2.482.479 Last Physical Sector in Layer 0: 0
  5. Because I have thought the problem has gone away by enabling "DVD+R Reserve Track". If I knew that these media could make problems, I would not have bought them, but now I still have some left which I don't want to throw away of course. Maybe the problem will disappear by reducing the write speed from 8x to 4x. I will try. Thanks anyway for taking a look.
  6. Unfortunately, this was not really the fix. ImgBurn 1.2.0.0 once again produced a "Status: Incomplete" disc on the mentioned media, having "DVD+R Reserve Track" enabled. It seems that the problem is caused by the way ImgBurn is trying to close the Disc:I 12:24:15 [1:0:0] PHILIPS DVDR824DP P3.4 (R:) (ATA) I 12:24:15 CDB: 00 00 00 00 00 00 I 12:24:15 CDB Interpretation: Test Unit Ready E 12:24:15 SENSE: 71 00 03 00 00 00 00 12 00 00 00 00 0C 00 00 00 00 00 00 01 02 03 04 05 E 12:24:15 SENSE Interpretation: Write Error I have attached the entire Log of the write process to this post. 7. If there would be a step-by-step HowTo for creating those reports, I would try to post such a report of the TDK 8x ScratchProof DVD+R [TDK-002-00] media on my drive.
  8. yes, yours were TDK 8x Scratch-Proof DVD-R and mine are TDK 8x Scratch-Proof DVD+R. As it turned out in this thread, the observed problems have been related to DVD+ media only. BTW, I don't know what the results posted in the "Drives & Media" sub forum are good for (sorry). An explantation on how to reproduce and/or interprete them would be helpful. Thanks.
  9. Following your suggestion, I have now been successful in burning images on the mentioned DVD+R media :-) In fact, the "DVD+R Reserve Track" checkbox (introduced in version 1.2.0.0 but disabled per default) MUST be enabled! I would suggest to have the "DVD+R Reserve Track" checkbox enabled per default in the next release of ImgBurn. I'm not sure if there are any situations where it would be useful not to have this feature enabled. If there are none, why not always have it enabled and to remove it to be optional at all.
  10. OK, I have used ImgBurn 1.1 (because of the resource eating problem with 1.2) which has no "DVD+R Reserve Track" checkbox. I have now noticed that new option in ImgBurn 1.2 and recognized from 1.2.0.0's Change log. I will try a new burn using 1.2.0.0 with the 'Reserve Track' checkbox enabled tomorrow (I hope) and see if that in fact solves the problem. Regarding Disc closing, I have now been able to repair those discs that ImgBurn burnt "incomplete", using ImgBurn again :-) First, Tools -> Drive -> Close -> Track produced the following Log: I 02:45:24 ImgBurn Version 1.2.0.0 started! Thanks a lot for the suggestion! I am just wondering why nothing will be written into the Log Window per default (when not in Debug mode) regarding the successful Close Track and Close Disc. Also, no message pops up, so normally some will not be able to recognize a successful closing of a Disc.

  13. I have not saved the logs, however, I remember that the log did not include any mention about a problem. Is there any other information I can post that might give you useful information? The TDK ScratchProof DVD+R discs are the one and only ones where I observed the mentioned problems so far. However, as said, these problems only occured with ImgBurn but not with Nero, on the same system and burner. ImgBurn also had no problems when other DVD+R media have been used. Thanks for the suggestion, I have already tried that, but without success. ImgBurn issued an error message saying there was an incomplete track on the disc.
  14. Hi, Most discs resulting from DVD ISO images burned with ImgBurn (version 1.1 and 1.2 tested) on "TDK-002-00" media (gray TDK DVD+R 8x ScratchProof) will fail to work properly. They will not be recognized within Windows Explorer, ImgBurn reads them with a "Status: Incomplete" and Nero InfoTool says "Disc status: Open, not finalized". When the same image has been burned using Nero, however, the resulting disc is fine. Thus, it seems that ImgBurn has problems with those kind of blank media. Anybody aware of this? Thanks.
