  1. Thanks for the reply. I am based in the UK and the stand alone player is PAL region 2. The first disc I burned actually defaulted to NTSC which the player would not read - I think the error message was "NOT PAL". As mentioned, for the last disc I burned, I specified both PAL and Region2, which should match the player.

    How did you manage to do this? I'm not aware of any setting that will convert from NTSC to PAL. :wacko:

  2. More info please, can you post a log from your burn? that should tell us all we need to know, my guess at the moment is poor media, but the log will tell us this.

    BTW, you can't burn over these discs, they're a one time only, unless offcourse they're RW's.

  3. It's all down to drive/firmware/media combination, if the speed you select is not supported by any of them, then the speed will default to the closest thing you selected.

    Easy way to find out what speed you're drive/media supports is to pop a blank into the drive, select write mode and look in the right hand pane, sample below.

    In this case, the supported speeds are 4X and 8X this offcourse will change with different media.

    Here is another that's only supported at 4X.

  4. is the LG GSA-4163B a good dvd/cd RW ??
    Yes, it is.

    is there a big difference between the +R and the -R discs ??

    Yes, there is, they are totally different.

  5. Kenadgian;

    Curious; your screen name rings like an ex-pat Canuck, but your RAR Insignia would suggest otherwise. Is there something in Oz that inspired the handle?

    The name is KENADJIAN not KENADGIAN, (Armenian background)

    My handle as you call it, is in fact my surname. :D

    The RAR Insignia is my old corp badge, 7 RAR to be exact based in NSW Australia.
