  1. Thanks, Cynthia and mmalves... it burned perfectly now. That guide is excellent. I had searched the guide before posting but somehow didn't come across that thread. Oh well... bookmarked it now!
  2. I haven't yet, only because I did successfully burn one like this a while nack using ImgBurn solo. Looks like I'm starting to get it now though (though goodness knows how I managed it before - beginner's luck I guess) Somehow I thought that last time, I just selected one of the files and all the rest just were pulled in. Like I said to mmalves, I have actually know idea *what* I did that time, that made it work. Final query then (I think)... when you say, add all the files, do I burn them within the VIDEO_TS folder (that is, do I burn the folder as well?)... ot do I burn the set of files directly to the DVD?
  3. Why do you not add the full DVD structure/folder? Now you have added a tiny file and the menu movie file. That's not a full DVD Movie. You can't just add what you like, all files most be there. All the files are present in the VIDEO_TS folder, but I thought that last time I did build & burn by choosing just one of those files. If I just burn the whole VIDEO_TS folder (and all its contents) to the DVD, should that give me a playable DVD? The file in the folder are shown in the attached image file:

  5. A while back I successfully used build & burn to burn a VIDEO_TS folder to DVD. I must have just got very lucky that time, because I have just tried another and successfully made two... coasters I have used the VIDEO_TS.IFO file and the VIDEO_TS.VOB file. I could just go for a set of three and try to VIDEO_TS.BUP file but I figured I'd swallow my pride and ask. I did try to search for this, but couldn't find anything so far... So... ummm... help, please!
  6. Thanks for that, Cynthia... since I am running only Win XP 32 bit, maybe it doesn't need 1.22. I'm just running scared that it will stuff things up for me like mentioned on an earlier post, and right now it seems to be working just fine. I think it was just one project I had trouble with, and it is now working fine with 1.13.
  7. Are you living in a PAL land? There is a later firmware version. Now you have ver 1.13. http://www.firmwarehq.com/Pioneer/DVR-115D/files.html Yes, definitely PAL land for TV Very observant though. I downloaded firmware 1.22 - thanks for the link! But... I'm a little reluctant to install it after reading this thread: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies-archive.cfm/955740.html It's a different drive, but it seems if you have a problem there's no easy going back to 1.13. Do you think 1.22 will make a lot of difference? I never had any problems prior to this project anyway; but that was before I burned any ISOs. I can't imagine what changes burning ISOs would make to what happens when I burn AVIs etc... Hmmm... well, about to try a different AVI project. I'll see how that goes! By the way, a search of my entire hard drive for dvr115d failed to find anything - where would I expect to find the current firmware for the burner installed?

  9. Very strange - I found the log file, thanks for the directions. However, it contains all the logs of the ISOs I burned, and also logs of the times I have opened the program just to look at it while writing for this thread; BUT no trace of the two burns I did for the project I have the problem with. The difference is that for that project ImgBurn was accessed via DVD Flick - maybe that makes a difference to log recording?
  10. If I play the disk with VLC Media Player in my computer, it is fine. It is only on my DVD player that it has a strange effect - which is basically an intermittent 'shivering' of vertical lines on the screen. (In other words, if for example a grid of bookshelves appears on screen, the vertical supports of the shelving unit 'shiver' for a second or two, settle down, and then shiver again). Seems it is to do with compatibility with my player. It is not something I have usually experienced, and it occurs on several tracks on the disk, so my suspicion is that it it something to do with this particular burn process. Do I understand correctly that I would enhance the likelihood of a stable burn result by using a *faster* burn speed? Thanks for the other info - I will certainly keep a full log for future queries. I did these burns at a time when other things were busy and didn't get to do that this time Is it possible to retrieve a log of the burn once ImgBurn has closed itself down after the burn?
  11. I have been using ImgBurn for the first time creating and burning ISO images, after successfully using it in conjunction with DVD Flick for some time to burn AVI, MP4 etc. When burning ISOs I set the write speed to 4X based on advice I had seen somewhere (maybe even this forum!). I had used 2X to burn the AVIs etc. I was burning ISOs onto both Sony DVD+R's and Verbatim DVD+R DL's, with never a problem; and prior to this, also burning AVIs etc onto the Sony disks, again with never a problem. I am using the same burner throughout, and have not changed anything else. I now attempted to go back and do some of those files (MP4, AVI etc) again - and I am getting an error message as follows: W 07:16:29 Write Speed Miscompare! - Wanted: 2,770 KB/s (2x), Got: 5,540 KB/s (4x) (This is preceded in the log by a yellow [!] alert) This is a screenshot of the ImgBurn working at the time (right click to open full size in a new screen): Even if I manually set ImgBurn back to 2X before opening DVD Flick, I still get this error. The effect of this error in the finished DVD seems to be a jumpiness of the image. It plays 'okay' but the image is unstable. Any help appreciated!
  12. Oh... really? That would work? Hmmm... so, it only looks as if it is seeking a file within the ISO file? I am still unsure why it would look for a file with a different name. But actually, no matter really - since my burns are working okay, it seems - now that I have the right blank disks, thanks also to you!
  13. Oh... that's good to know... so, I will continue to use it with AVIs and suchlike. It does seem to be good for those. But they still depend on your work do finish the job. You are benevolent not to get tooo bent out of shape by it!
  14. I see... thankyou. My problem was that I was getting an error message with the MDS file there, and when I found the post I quoted and moved the MDS while burning, it worked okay... and seems to have placed the layer break okay by itself (so far!) The error was of the nature that it seemed to be looking for a file within the ISO file and saying it couldn't find it.
  15. I am now using ImgBurn just fine on its own, with ISOs at any rate. It's so easy and intuitive - well, so far... even worked out how to build & burn (okay, maybe no challenge for most here, but I am a tech dummy!) So, excuse my lack of understanding, but what is DVD Flick actually achieving before the burn phase anyway? I'm sorry to have been the bearer of bad news about what DVD Flick is doing. I'm not sure if they give any credit to you, it's a while since I downloaded it. All I can say is... ImgBurn is just a delight to use and making things so easy... I have no clue how software writers do what they do (just as I put fuel in my car but have no clue what happens under the bonnet) - I am just full of admiration, that's all
