  1. WOW THANKS been awhile since an update, but there are an imperial load of additions and fixes all at once time to save as IBBs my projects I was in the middle of burning and burn them with the new build instead thanks for the constant dedication to your software, the best burning app bar none. If only the other features of the old software could have been expanded upon too, to feature modern media
  2. (actually, it looks like the Panasonic and Sony are the good choice... I have been told that they are the only BDR/RE media made in Japan for certain... and they do seem to make a difference) edit: sorry for double post. thought i hit edit. weird
  3. thanks for the info, LUK! with as much as these cost, I won't be buying more unless I know the MID ahead of time >.< 33% complete bunk failure rate on BDRE is really terrible.
  4. That is great in theory, except I am having the same issue, I had bought a pack of Mitsubishi (aka Verbatim's parent company) BDRE DL, but the media code is still TDKBLD-Wfa-000, even tho it is MKM branded. I am having the same issue with one of my discs from a pack of 3. It never formatted correctly the first time, and I had to poke a paperclip into emergency release, and had to pull the SATA cable and shut down ImgBurn from Task Manager. I since tried to format with Disk Manager, which also hung at 52% and had to repeat these steps after drive was spinning at high speed for hours. Trying to do a full erase in ImgBurn nets the same results. It is really working the hell out of my drive, a HL-DT-ST BD-RE WH10LS30 1.00 (I honestly don't know the actual firmware since I don't know the software to tell me what it is on these new LG drives... they all read as 1.00) Anyhow, if i do a fast erase, that goes fine, but the disc never formatted correctly to begin with (and never will since it hangs at the layerbreak area, killing my drive), so when I try to just go ahead and write to these discs,of course they don't verify when they get about halfway in. Is there any good and reliable BDRE 50 discs that someone can recommend? I hear bad stories about all of them. (which makes me wonder how big these BDR XL discs will fail if the BDRE 50s are so flakey... I certainly won't jump at the newer media and hardware if older stuff is unreliable). So far I am leary of buying more BDRE 50(DL) until i find a better brand. Perhaps Panasonic or Sony, since they are the only ones made in Japan? I 22:22:59 Operation Started! 5. this seems to affect my LG (HL) BD burner as well. this came as an add-on to another issue (Cannot Write Medium - Incompatible Format) but i saw this topics problem at the very beginning of a bad burn. 6. thanks for the response unfortunately it is same supplier i always used (local PC store, part of a chain). i usually buy several spindles at once, so i guess i will try the next. if i keep getting errors i guess i will then have to gamble with online for awhile till my retailer might conceivably have a new lot in. too bad, i had done really well with the Verbatim LTH discs for a long time, only an occasional dud or mishap. this spindle of 20, i have burnt more duds than not so far. good cheer LUK EDIT: update, now i am getting this error at the beginning of process (this is an LG / HL BD burner, not a Lite On) W 09:20:59 Failed to Write Sectors 0 - 31 - Reason: Program Memory Area Update Failure so i guess even LGs (and BD burners) are getting the error now too. what i am still a bit upset about is finding out after i bought the drive that LG already planned to not offer firm updates for this drive ( HL-DT-ST BD-RE WH10LS30 1.00 ) so i guess i can expect more incompatibilities, and none will be fixed in a firmware update I 09:20:15 Source File Volume Set Identifier: 3D994A8500A1811D I 09:20:15 Source File Application Identifier: ImgBurn v2.5.4.0 I 09:20:15 Source File Implementation Identifier: ImgBurn I 09:20:15 Source File File System(s): UDF (2.50) I 09:20:16 Destination Device: [1:0:0] HL-DT-ST BD-RE WH10LS30 1.00 (E:) (ATA) I 09:20:16 Destination Media Type: BD-R (Disc ID: VERBAT-IMw-000) (Speeds: 2x) I 09:20:16 Destination Media Sectors: 12,219,392 I 09:20:16 Write Mode: BD I 09:20:16 Write Type: DAO I 09:20:16 Write Speed: MAX I 09:20:16 BD-R Verify Not Required: Yes I 09:20:16 Link Size: Auto I 09:20:16 Lock Volume: Yes I 09:20:16 Test Mode: No I 09:20:16 OPC: No I 09:20:16 BURN-Proof: Enabled I 09:20:16 Write Speed Successfully Set! - Effective: 8,991 KB/s (2x) I 09:20:46 Filling Buffer... 7. I have had a few bad burns, some consecutively. I haven't changed anything except i have updated to the newest IB (as always) and i am on a relatively new 20 pack spindle, but it is the same type of Verbatim LTH BDRs I always use, so my drive never had issues with the LTH (as i said, it is the ONLY type i ever used). but now i am getting errors i have never had before, and ~ half or more are bad burns. It is possible my (toddler) son changed a setting on me, without me knowing what, since he gets ahold of my keyboard among other things at times and wrecks havoc anyhow included attachment is a logfiles (btw, anydvd was disabled, but i also closed it out completely before 2nd burn, but things are going wrong before verification even. they are not finalizing and then i get the errors of Incompatible Format. The 1st disc completely froze up my PC so i couldn't even try to finish the verify that was going nowhere. the 3rd gave errors on finalizing, but then tells me it verified burn succesfully and the hashes match up can you explain how this happens, in laymans terms, that the finalizing couldn't complete, but it is a verified burn? if it would help, i could try to post the graph data too. 8. windows really is so weird... i have had some freak outs with discs (data and media both) coming back later as unreadable/ blank, etc even though when i burned them, they verified correctly in imgburn and i did md5 checks on files, etc. then i come back later on again after they were said to be unreadable duds, and some of these discs really are okay !? sometimes i wish i hadn't tossed so many discs out that i thought were bad burns or that had total data loss, since in the end it was probably just a windows hiccup. a lot of times i can't even get windows to tell me file system or anything when it is in a state of telling me a disc is bad, sometimes it even goes into freeze up reading a disc like it does on a really scratched up disc after the kids got a hold of it, even if it is unmarred. then reboot ... or wait a few months ... and it plays / reads fine windows is so weird
  9. no i didn't do any shrinking but i guess i am just going to have to use vobblanker to do just that, since it is somewhere just under 1 MB too big for a single DVD+R -- which is a huge waste of a DL media. The original media is single layer -- but since it is factory pressed it can hold a bit more data from my understanding, so to backup to same i need to blank a bit. thanks for the reply. i pretty much figured that i would be having to blank out a bit of unneded space, just found it curious part of why it stumped me was that for some reason i was thinking (incorrectly) that DVD-R was the smaller of the 2 single density media... thanks for setting me straight on that misconception of mine. But where i buy my disks, i don't think there are any Verbatim DVD-R, so it is a moot point for now anyhow, since i never use anything else other than Verbatim, since i started lurking in these forums a long time ago. please close this thread if you wish
  10. okay so i can probably do something in vob blanker to get rid of 1 MB, but when trying to burn something, I get 2 contradictory messages for the same image: like i said, i can probably remove a meg, but i am curious why the discrepancy, and whether it would be okay to just go ahead and hit okay for the single media w/o the bother of vobblanker or some similar program in the future. fwiw, here are the 3 media types i use for DVD at most times (sometimes I use Verbatim DVD+R DL 2.4x speed, if available, these listed are 8x): Disc ID: MCC-003-00 Book Type: DVD+R Disc ID: MCC-004-00 Book Type: DVD+R Disc ID: MKM-003-00 Book Type: DVD+R DL
  11. no good reason... i am switching back to SPTI. as for the non-new disc, yeah i must have tried re-using one from a failed attempt, in a rush to have a log to paste in here (my fault) tho i know i have gotten the same error with new discs from new packages. hopefully the problem was my stupidity in changing theI/O interface. thanks for the replies. thanks again for the great software. i will try to get back to you if this helps either way so may be we can close this EDIT: looks so far like i am able to at least start burning the disc without the error right off the bat. i don't remember changing the I/O interface... i did it mistaakenly i guess, since i know it got changed somehow. thanks again for the help. if the DL burns properly i will report back and get this closed out. EDIT: yeah, this now burned the DL properly. the I/O interface was the issue. feel free to close this thread.
  12. First off thanks for this great piece of software and sharing it with everyone. I have seen others with this problem, tho usually pertaining to bad media or burning PS3 games; of course i have not read all 100,000+ posts Now, I have followed advice to use Verbatim DL, MKM-001-00, and my firmware is updated from firmware HQ, for my TSST Corp TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-S223F SB03(Samsung SH-S223F) drive. The problem is that other DL media will burn, just many of the burns turn out coasters, but the drive will not even use the good Verbatim DL, MKM-001-00 discs (and not just in this software, but other burning software as well. i won't pretend to know a lot about media and dyes, but am i correct in thinking this drive is junk since it doesn't like good DVDs made with good dyes? anyhow, here is a log: I 00:05:06 ImgBurn Version 2.5.1.0 started!
