  3. ok well for the sake of ruling out the dodgy SPTD driver, please try the following...

load up Device Manager and click 'View' -> 'Show hidden devices'.

Expand the 'Non-Plug and play drivers' branch and locate the 'sptd' entry.

Double click it to bring up it's properties, click on the 'Driver' tab (2nd one) and change 'Startup' from 'Boot' to 'Disabled'.

Click ok (a few times) and reboot the PC.

    Then give 2.4.0.0 another go.

Change it back to 'Boot' when you're done testing.

Event viewer can be found in Administrative Tools (in control panel - classic view).

Event Viewer didn't show anything ImgBurn related...

    eventviewer01uo5.th.jpg

Note: I thought Event Viewer was part of ImgBurn

Will be disabling SPTD and rebooting. Will post results later...

  4. You're obviously running Alcohol / DAEMON Tools there.... is it the most recent version and with v1.55 of the SPTD driver?

    Using DT v4.10.0218

    SPTD v1.50

...Did you look in event viewer for any clues? (Note that I don't mean the 'log' window when I say that... which is what I think you took it to mean the first time around :) )

    Where do I find that?

  5. Any chance you could try the drive in another PC? Or do you have another drive in that PC you could try? Even a virtual drive would probably do!

I have another drive and a virtual drive on same pc...

ImgBurn 2.4.0.0 exibited the same response as with the LG Writer.

ImgBurn 2.3.0.0 worked okay with all 3.

  6. Just to be clear, it does it on data cd's, audio ones too etc?

Just checked, it also does the same thing with AudioCDs.

....Is anything logged in event viewer?

I enabled debug mode but couldn't see the last set of statements since the ImgBurn shutdown so fast.

What I/O interface are you using?

    SPTI

  7. I think I have that model drive but what do I need to do just try reading data cd

When I put any data cd into the tray with ImgBurn 2.4.0.0, it suddenly closes when it tries to get the RAW TOC information after I close the tray. You can help by telling if the same thing happens to your drive.

Also do you have the exact firmware as I do?

  8. Does this happen on every disc you have in the drive tray?

    Both CD's and DVD's ?

    Only on CDs not DVDs

2.4.0.0 has loads of new stuff so it's hard to compare it to previous versions like that. 2.3.2.0 probably didn't issue the command or use it's info in the same way.

    What drive do you have?

Can you copy + paste the info from the panel on the right (from 2.3.2.0 obviously :) ) when a disc is in the drive that makes 2.4.0.0 close.

    Many thanks.

  9. At the part when ImgBurn 2.4.0.0 is "Getting RAW TOC Information..." from a data CD, it suddenly closes.

It didn't happen before in ImgBurn 2.3.2.0 so I decided to check it with the previous version. I extracted 2.3.2.0 from the 2.3.2.0 installer and put it into the ImgBurn directory as ImgBurn_v2.3.2.0.exe. It didn't display the same bug as 2.4.0.0.

Lightning, could you help me out?

Edit: it also does this with any type of cd.
