AnyDVD is up to version 6.8.5, same story. Lightning, any ETA on that 'next release' you mentioned in April?

The release notes for AnyDVD 6.8.0 (just out) mentioned some work on the driver. So I was keen to see if things had improved. Unfortunately it seems to be worse, if anything. It might be my imagination, but it seemed like ImgBurn rejected the second disc faster than it had previously. Lightning, I'm sure you're up to your eyeballs with other things, but it might be worth a quick retest with AnyDVD 6.8.0, to see if the status reporting from AnyDVD has changed. -- Paul

This was prompted by the 'Insert Next Disc - Find Next Non-Blank Disc' option, which didn't do what I thought it did (what? read the documentation? that's admitting defeat I've a stack of discs to rip, and two optical drives. I'd dearly love to have ImgBurn be able to 'ping-pong' between them, so when one rip completes, it can start ripping from the other drive immediately. This would allow me to replace the first disc with the third disc in the first drive at my leisure, while ImgBurn rips the second disc in the second drive. I'm looking for a way to keep ripping going continuously, without me having to hover over the process. This way, after one rip completes, I would have several minutes to swap the disc before it would slow the process down - unlike now, where the process comes to a screeching halt after every disc, until I come back and put in a fresh disc. -- Paul p.s. Once the incompatibility between AnyDVD, ImgBurn and my autoloader has a workaround, I won't really need this. But it would still have value to people who don't have autoloaders.

I'm ripping Audio CDs using an autoloader. Some are multidisc sets, and some of those have CD Text. I was pleasantly surprised when ImgBurn named the image (and associated files) with the Album's name from the CD text information - very nice. Problem is, the second disc reverts to being named 'Image(n).iso' (and n is not 2!), rather than the preferable 'CD Text Album Name (Disc 2).iso', in a similar style to the first disc. This becomes annoying when you're trying to figure out which is the matching second disc in a folder with a hundred ISOs in it. -- Paul

I'm ripping stacks of Audio CDs using an autoloader. The result is a folder full of ISOs with names like 'Image(42).iso', which is less than helpful. Any possibility of looking up the CD in freedb.org to see if it has album name and track info? The info in freedb isn't always perfect, but it'd be an improvement. Then I'd only be seeing 'Image(n).iso' for the obscure stuff. -- Paul

Well, it looks like James @ SlySoft is open to making the changes, but it won't be anytime soon. Lighning, could I persuade you to make that timeout configurable in the meantime? doesn't have to have a pretty UI, I'd be happy to tweak a config file or registry entry, if there were one. This would purely be a workaround until SlySoft improve their reporting behavior. I'd really like to get started with my daughter's stack of DVDs... -- Paul

I completely concur - I'm a software developer by trade too, and it definitely rubs the wrong way to be forced to include compatibility workarounds. Better to try to get the root cause resolved In the interim, how do you feel about making the timeout value a registry entry, config file entry, or similar? Looking to get unblocked while working to get it resolved the right way. Slysoft does updates pretty frequently, but I don't know how long the pipeline is, or how they'd prioritize this. -- Paul

Without AnyDVD installed, when I read (rip) DVDs, I can rip multiple DVDs in batch mode 'successfully' (they fail as expected with CSS issues, autoloader rejects). Cancel doesn't get me out of this state, after about a minute of no activity I force-quit. I've also seen hangs with the status 'Terminating AutoInsert Thread...' when I try to abort or exit. I got the loader because I want to rip a bunch of my daughter's DVDs to a media server, and give her a media adapter with a cover art UI. She doesn't read yet, and not old enough to be handling DVDs, but knows what she wants to watch, and has no problem finding a cover image. I've been using AnyDVD for a while, adding the Acronova Nimbie and ImgBurn looked like a great solution. Except it's not working for me... Yes, I saw the warnings about turning off AnyDVD if I'm verifying. I'm not, just 'read' mode. I also saw a thread on this board where Lightning explained the issue, and that AnyDVD should work fine otherwise. Does this combination work for others? what versions are you using? any configuration options I should verify? What other information should I provide? -- Paul
