  1. Layer Information:

    Layer 0 Sectors: 1.868.753 (56,06%)

    Layer 1 Sectors: 1.464.943 (43,94%)

It looks like your drive is misreporting that info.

Does the Plextor say the same thing?

As a matter of fact, it doesn't:
    Layer Information:
    Layer 0 Sectors: 1.868.752 (56,06%)
    Layer 1 Sectors: 1.464.944 (43,94%)

That's odd. I never encountered this problem before.

Rebuilding the file system solved this problem. (Reading the DVD from the Plextor would have too, I guess)

    Thanks for your help.

  2. 1.868.753 wouldn't be valid as a layer break position. You drive is therefore rounding up to the next multiple of 16.

Where does this number come from, then? I assume, ImgBurn only formats and writes valid layer breaks, right? Never had a problem with it before.

Put the original disc in the drive, switch to Read mode and copy + paste the disc info text from the box on the right.

And just in case, 1868752 is what the layer break dialog tells me it is.

    You should update ImgBurn.
    Just did.

Why aren't you using SPTI? That's the I/O interface that gets all the testing.
I didn't know. Never encountered any problems before. I'll try this now.

Edit: This is what the layer break dialog looks like during formatting:

  3. I formated and burned this DVD+R DL with ImgBurn. No problems. Later on, I needed a further copy and created an image of the flawless DVD on my harddisk. Of course, I did this with ImgBurn as well.

When burning this, I notice this message: "L0 Data Zone Capacity Miscompare!"

How could that be? Is this a problem? Do I have expect problems when playing this DVD now?
