  1. An interesting observation to add to my post above about observing "artist unknown" when playing a CD burned by ImgBurn, and that had artist metadata included when I burned it... If I open (with Windows Media Player) the wav files that are used to burn the disk, all the CDText data is there (including artist). But, when I burn the wav files to a CD, and then play it with Windows Media Player, WMP displays "artist unknown", but does display the other metadata (Album Name and Track Name). Maybe, as dbminter comments, it's just that WMPCDText is flaky. Is there an alternative? DG
  2. I just found this thread. I am having the same problem. I burn a CD (from a concert I have personally recorded. (I added the CDText.) When I play it with Windows Media Player (with WMPCDText plugin), it shows the album name, the track name, but the artist is listed as "unknown". Interestingly, when I click File-->Properties and then the "Content" tab, the CDTEXT data, INCLUDING the artist is shown. But, when I go back to Windows Media main ()library) window, it still says "Artist: Unknown". I think there must be some bug in WMP. But, I am using obsolete software (Windows 7). I have had this problem for years. I don't think I ever saw "Artist" metadata in WMP under Windows 7. Just an FYI. I love ImgBurn. DG
  3. My apologies. Please disregard. I messed up my labels, and inadvertently had a 2 second track ("Intro to III"). When I fixed that, the cue file worked. DG
  4. Might anyone offer any assistance? How can I tell what field the error message is referencing? Below is the cue file (which I built with ImgBurn). Thank you for your thoughts and suggestions. 5. Thank you. That would appear to be what they are. Think I'll keep them. Don't know why I didn't notice them until now. DG
  6. Thank you, both, for your helpful posts. It would seem that the proper download is the one that has both "imgburn" and "setup" in the name. Regards, DG P.S. Is it normal to be seeing brief messages at the bottom of imgburn user interface? I never noticed these before, perhaps, due to being inobservant. But, I have them now. Is there any cause for concern?
  7. I wanted toupdate my installation of Imgburn, but I am having a dificult time identifying the proper download. The lsrge prominent DOWNLOAD buttons that one encounters at the purported download site do all manner of things, but don't seem to supply Imgburn. My Avast virus detection goes crazy issuing warnings and blocking almost everything there. When I realized that I was doing something I didn't want to do, I aborted, but it was too late. My home page has been reset to some "conduit" thing, and I have no idea what other damage it may have done. Then I very carefully tried to identify the proper download button by careful reading. There seem to be at least two downloads (different names) that appear to be related to Imgburn. I don't know which is the proper and safe download. How can I identify the proper download, and avoid all the evil stuff that seems to be associated or included? Thank you. DG
  8. Thank you. Of course, that did it. It just didn't occur to me that WMP/CDTEXT plugin would cache the metadata. Thanks again. DG
  9. Bad form to reply to my own thread, but, I did some further investigating, which I should have done before posting the original question(s). I examined the CD in "read" mode in ImgBurn. All the displayed CD-TEXT metadata is exactly as in the CUE file. (That is, it is correct.) Yet, when I play the CD in WMP, it (WMP) continues to display the original, old (incorrect) CD-TEXT metadata. Conclusion: ImgBurn is doing things correctly. WMP, with the plugin, is doing things wrong. Anyone have any suggestions to make WMP (with the plugin) behave correctly. Thank you. DG
  10. I recorded a local concert, and am making a CD for the players. I used CD-TEXT to add PEFORMER and TITLE information. It worked like a charm. I can see the metadata in WMP (have version 1.2 of the CD_TEXT plugin for WMP). Now the strange thing. I have tried to change the CD-TEXT. I tried editing the existing CUE file. I tried using the CUE Tool in ImgBurn to create a new CUE file (with the new CD-TEXT). I have retried the second action, and then renamed the first CUE file. In all cases, I successfully burn a CD (and observe the CD-TEXT notation in the log), and then play it in WMP. It plays fine, but in all cases, the CD-TEXT displayed in WMP is precisely that of the very first CD I burned (with the original CD-TEXT). No matter what I do, the original CD-TEXT is displayed in WMP. I'm thinking that either WMP has cached the original CD-TEXT and refuses to read the data off the new CDs. or ImgBurn has done something similar. Has anyone encountered this, or have any thoughts or suggestions on how I can diagnose what is reallhy happening? It is very strange. I just can't get rid of the original CD-TEXT metadata. Thank you. DG
  11. Yes, the CD-TEXT is correct. Interesting that the Volume is now named as pretty much a concatenation of PERFORMER and TITLE of the whole disc. I conclude that the CD-TEXT metadata, as implemented by ImgBurn, is correct. It is the plugin for Windows Media Player that fails to recognize some of it. Thank you, "LIGHTNING UK" and "mmalves", for all your kind assistance. Regards, DG
  12. I am wondering if there is a way to include other metadata in CD-TEXT. I have seen reference to additional categories of metadata. I cited examples in the "Topic Description", above. Is there a way to include "Composer", "Arranger", etc.? If not directly via ImgBurn, perhaps by editing the cue file??? THank you. Regards, DG

  14. Thank you, again. I had preciously created a cue file, and added metadata for each track on the CD. However, I neglected to add "Title" and "Performer" information for the entire disc (globally). I made two new test cue file for a CD with a single track. One had metadata for only the track, and the other had metadata for the whole disc. I examined the resulting file and observed that the global metadata was just two lines in the text file, similar to the lines for the individual track. So, I edited the cue file for the real CD I want to make. I added a "TITLE" and a "PERFORMER" line to the top of the text file. Then, I burned a CD. I watched the log and observed the "Writing Leadin (CD-TEXT)" line, and thought all was good. I played the resulting CD in Windows Media Player (which shows track metadata just fine). It continues to display Album and Performer as Unknown (just as before). Am I still doing something wrong? Thank you. Regards, DG
  15. Thank you, so much, for your quick and helpful reply. I should have included more information. I do load the cue file from write mode. When it loads, however, the track-specific information is not displayed. All the "Title" and "Performer" fields are blank. I am wondering how to get the cue file to display, with all the information I previously entered when I created it. I want to make some changes. In other words, I am asking how to edit a previously created cue file. In my current example, I did an experiment and burned a CD using the cue file that I previously created-- the one that displays in ImgBurn with empty "Title" and "Performer" fields. Lo and behold, it works fine. All the metadata displays in Windows Media Player (with the CDTEXT plugin). It is exactly what I entered into the cue file when I created it in ImgBurn. It's just that all those track-specific "Title" and "Performer" fields are blank when I open the cue file from within IMGBurn. Summarizing, I'd like to know what I have to do in ImgBurn so I can view an existing cue file (created from within ImgBurn), and edit it. Thank you, once again. Regards, DG (Edited for clarity.)
  16. I wonder if I am doing something incorrectly. I have recorded a local musical performance, and created several wav files, from which I wish to build an audio CD. I created a cue file and manually added Performer and Title information. I saved the cue file (using "OK", and specifying file name and location). Then exited Imgburn. Later, when I wanted to actually burn CDs, I reloaded the cue file (I did this by choosing Tools-->Create Cue, and then used the file selector icon to choose the file I previously saved. It loaded and all the files were listed in the proper order, but all the performer and title metadata (CD-TEXT) were gone. It's quite time consuming to have to manually enter the CD-TEXT every time, since there are dozens of performers. I think I must not be using the proper procedure, and would ask to be set straight. Thank you. Regards, DG
