  1. Ok I can get into cdfreaks now but can't find any firmware or links for it for your drive - is it quite old ?

I got the computer in 2006. It was the latest dual core intel at the time. didn't think it would have dated so quickly. I remember I did manage one firmware update sometime back in the dvd decrypter forum days. I think it was Shamus who found it for me then.

  2. Yes I have managed to burn single layer isos successfully for Wii. Also burnt the single layer SSSB on this drive with no problems with playback. I did try looking for the drive firmware update on the imgburn link but got really confused on that page. I have no idea where to find the firmware version. I would greatly appreciate your help pointing me in the right direction for this.

  3. boy you are quick Lightning. You really live up to your name. Thanks. The discs are from Singapore and the dye lot you suggested on the forum.

sigh, I am trying to do this on my laptop. The drive has not had much use as I dont use this PC much. I am using a ASUS Lamborghini VX1 series laptop.

I wnted the challenge but it is getting expensive. Maybe I will just have to give up.

  4. Hi I'm back with another problem. I went and got some Verbatim discs as suggested (they are next to impossible to find in SA and I only managed to find them online). Most shops had TDK+R DL and Vebatim-R DL but not Verbatim+R DLs.

so i went to try burnng this iso. My friend managed to burn this iso successfully so I dont know if it is my burner or what that is the problem.

    Here is my log.

  5. This is my first attempt with dual layer discs. I think my drive burner supports DL burning but the disc failed to burn. Can anyone please tell me if it is a burner problem or do i have lousy discs. I dont know what the incompatible format is referring to. Under capabilities it has a tick next to write DVD+R DL

    Drive is Matshita DVD-RAM UJ-8325 1.00 (E:) ATA firmware version 1.0

  6. Hi friends. Long time no chat. I have got me a new toy (ASUS Lamborghini).

Found a link on Digital Digest forum to an all-in-one converter called Mediacoder. Only problem is that I dont understand the jargon on the mediacoder forum etc.

Any chance that one of you can tell me how to use the program in simple terms? Want to encode .avi to xvid/divx and vice versa. Might also be game to try converting to my mobile phone.

  7. Does anyone else have a problem with DVD Shrink not burning with updated version of ImgBurn? I have installed the latest update of Img Burn but my Shrink still runs the 1.0.0.0 version. Did I miss a step when updating ImgBurn? I seem to remember a question at the end of the install which I didnt know how to answer. I might have selected the wrong option.

Can someone tell me how to get the right version linked to Shrink please?

  8. Short history lesson: Up until about 18 months or 2 years ago, DVD Shrink (a great piece of software btw), was unable to create ISO (disk) images that could be burned using Nero or DVD Decrypter or whatever. A fella by the name of CouJo had created a program that converts DVD files (.VOBS, .IFOS etc) into a format that burning programs could recognise. He called it ImgTool. What it does is it grabs the contents of a VIDEO_TS folder and converts the files to an ISO image. He made two (I think) versions. One is called ImgTool Burn and the other is called ImgTool Classic. ImgTool Burn uses Nero to burn disks and as most of us around here dislike Nero, we don't use it. :) ImgTool Classic used to use DVD Decrypter to burn disks. It has since been updated to use Lightning_UKs program, ImgBurn, instead.

    So..... basically.....

Once you have your video files on your HD, create a VIDEO_TS folder somewhere and move your VOBs and IFO files into it. (If you haven't got a decent file manager like Turbo Navigator, GET ONE. It makes life soooo much easier). Once you've done that, all you have to do now is tell ImgTool where ImgBurn is located on your computer and then point ImgTool Classic at the VIDEO_TS folder and tell it to start work.

    Clear as mud, huh? :)

Yeah! Sooooo........ what I think you are trying to tell me is.....................Img Tool does the same sort of thing as DVD Shrink (which I am using already)?

  9. Can someone please help me with what this program does and how to use it? I looked up cujo's website but there were no guides there. I got confused with the lingo on the downloads page.
