  1. Look for the latest drivers for your SATA controller. If your SATA controller is in IDE mode and/or it doesn't need a driver then you should try with a new SATA cable. Also make sure the SATA power cable is firmly and evenly seated in the drive's connector.

I do have them under IDE Mode. I'll check to see about any controller drivers, though it's prolly a loose data/power cable or just time to recycle it. I'll post back w/results. Thanks mmalves.

mmalves it's working now. Changed the Data cable and tightened up the SATA power cable as well. I also took out the SATA power cable from the burner as it was sharing w/my OS HDD. I just put all the burners on a separate power line w/extensions.

  2. I've been having some issues lately with either writingand/or reading. I also just had to do a clean install of DVDFab 8.0.8.5.. I uninstalled and kept out the QT version in case of any conflicts. If it looks like the burner's ready to go, please let me know so I can throw it out asap. Thanks as always.

  3. My board is the M4A78T-E by ASUS. Chipset is AMD 790GX/SB750. Something's telling me that Intel might be the industry favorite/standard. I build so prolly for the heck of it I'll make my next one a Intel board. Build wise only difference I can see is the price for the CPU. I don't think Intel is making ImgBurn or any other of the popular apps. we use work any better/faster does it?

Lightning just a quick update. Everything's fine and the queued .MDS files that are loaded after a Read do point to the whole .iso when burning from the queue. When using the regular write mode and selecting the .MDS file it won't point to the .iso. It will just burn the .MDS file.

  4. I went to device manager and it only told me the location of the controller. I didn't see anything about make and model. Would I have to go into Bios for this, or is there another way to find this out? This just started happening recently, before everything was fine. I did notice under Drivers for the Samsung Burners that there was a windows location and a AnyDVD location as well.

I got it Lightning! The Sata storage controllers were set to AHCI instead of IDE in Bios. Here's a new log with bitsetting implemented:

  6. Lightning I just played w/a couple of .iso that had a .MDS file. One was just under 4.37GBs so ImgBurn just went ahead and burned as usual. The 2nd one was under 1GB and ImgBurn still went ahead and burned it w/no reminder of loading the >MDS file as you stated. It also didn't booktype to DVD-R as it usually does w/out any additional settings, as it's defaulted to perform this function. Maybe the burner doesn't support bitsetting? Here's the log:

  7. I got you and also took my sometimes lazy butt to the search/web to really find out what's the whole deal! Hence: ImgBurn doesn't attempt to burn the MDS to a disc, it looks in the MDS file to see the name of the image file it's associated with and extract other little bits of info from it.

So just load the MDS and if it supports the image format, it'll load up and you can go ahead and press the 'Write' button to burn it.

  8. If the source DVD is double layer or under 1 GB in size, the program will create an MDS file too. It's correct that the MDS should be loaded when attempting to burn. If you select the ISO, the program would just tell you to select the MDS anyway.

It didn't tell me to select the MDS file, and as I remember, whenever I did burn a MDS file it would not even be the video, just a couple of KBs of some kind of data.

Here you go: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MDS_file So basically you were/are one of the few who even used/uses it. Lol... I still even after reading this don't get the use for it. ;)

  9. You'd leave 'Copies' set on 1 for what I said to do. Otherwise it'll still just make X copies on the 1 drive before moving onto the next image (which is actually the same as the previous image) - potentially on another drive.

I got you. I noticed that when I checked off the Add to Queue function in Read mode, it did add it to the Queue, though the .MDS file not the .iso. Lucky I checked the file size and also went to the source to see what exactly was created in Read mode. There was 2 files. The .MDS and .iso. The .iso was the normal 4. or so GBs so I knew that's the movie. I have no idea why on some reading of DVD discs you only get a .iso, and others both the .mds and .iso. Mattere of fact I still have no clue what the .MDS is. I'll search this. Only thing I do remember is you telling me a while back that in order to burn from the queue, ImgBurn would need the smaller file to point to so it can write the larger. At least regarding .MP3 audio files. The cue function always produces 2 files for music I believe. I know it's almost always .bin and I think sometimes .mds, though not sure about this.

  10. Ok, so I can queue the same image as many times as I want, and then select share all images amongst drives, and it will burn the number of copies I set in the queue window correct? I never thought about that for a single .ISO. It makes sens3e as each queued up file stays put until it gets burnt. I was doing it backwards. Setting say 3 copies to be burnt of 1 queued .iso in the queue. It will do it, though in 1 burner and manually feeding it blanks. :teehee:

  11. It doesn't remember/restore the number of copies now unless an option is enabled.

As yours is defaulting to 2, you need to enable the option, change it to 1, close and reopen the program and then disable the option again.

It's the 'Remember 'Copies'' one in the Settings on the 'Write' tab (Page 1).

I got it now. Thnx. I knew something was new etc...

Now I have a quick question;if I wanted to share the same image amongst all my drives in the queue to continuously make multiple copies, could the share selected images amongst drives setting work? Using the share all images amongst drives whilst trying to make multiple copies will only use the same burner, and you would have to continuously load blank media into the same drive. I figured if I used the share the selected images amongst drives, and had say the copies setting to 3, then ImgBurn would use all 3 of my burners to continuously burn said image until the desired number. Not at the same time, though at least 1 copy after another with each burner.

  12. Have you tried burning at 8x?

Have you tried some other media? Maybe the samsung just doesn't like 'SONY-D21-00' very much.

I didn't think it would be a media compatibility issue or write speed. I haven't used Sony in a while and so the AWS was set for MAX as default. The other settings included the older TYs, Verbs and newer JVC TYs at 12x. Also some Pro-disc CD-Rs at 24x. Anyway it's working now so thanks as usual.

One thing I can't get rid of is the number of copies that's set either in the queue or main write window. It continually stays at 2 copies no matter what I do. I tried refreshing the view and drives, and manually setting it back to 1, though on closing and restarting ImgBurn it goes back to 2 copies. Did you set this as default in the latest version? Guides have nothing on this, so unless there's some setting I'm totally missing my next move is a clean uninstall/install. Messes me up when using popular apps. like Fab etc... because if using a split disc function for example, I'm making a double copy of the 1st split disc instead of the 2nd split disc etc...

  13. Ok so my Sammy as described above gives me this error at about 99%.

So, Sammy's about done or some other minor detail? Thnx. :)

  14. There's no way of using the 'Copies' value whilst using multiple drives.

You have to add the same image multiple times. Use the keyboard shortcut for 'Queue Again'.

Thnx Lightning. I read all the Guide and thought maybe there was some way other than inserting another disc in same drive for another copy of same image.

Otn I also have to update my settings as I never received a email. I prolly forgot to put new email in.

That would be something though if it could do that, though now that I think about it all the other images would be waiting in the queue. So basically it all really turns out to be the same.

  15. Ok so I read how to select a particular image in the Queue to burn w/a selected burner. Now if I want multiple copies of that image/images in the Queue can I set them to continuously burn w/the next available burner w/out having to use the same one and inserting a blank disc again? If so, is there a faster way than manually doing it from the beginning? In other words if I select share all images amongst drives ImgBurn will send the next image in queue to the next burner. It won't make a 2nd copy of a image w/the next burner only w/the same one as I understand and have experienced I think. Thnx.

  16. Google has this way of mesmerizing one even if you're not even intentionally thinking about searching w/it. I'm slowly breaking myself out of this habit and exploring other search engines. AltaVista is not bad and fast as well. I just hit Ask.com and I like that sneak binocular feature. Also it did help me find what I was looking for. Funny how habits are born and raised then difficult to break. That's when you start losing at the Game though imo. I mean Google is practically a monopoly but it doesn't have all the answers. Many but not all. I'm going to start expanding my horizons and letting it rip a lil more PC wise. Been playing it too close to the vest for a while. I mean safe hexing is one thing and living another.

  17. Drive F: is a regular HDD I put into my Docking Station which plugs into any USB port. It had to be Essentials doing a scan because the default scheduled scan is at 2am every Sunday which was just about the time I had tried burning the .iso in the log. I turned that scheduler off and ImgBurn worked flawlessly. Funny for the 1st time also I got a pop-up telling me my Massive Storage drive would work faster if plugged into any of the other USB ports suggested by clicking on the pop-up balloon. I plugged it into one in the back of my case and the pop-up never came back. I didn't think the front USB ports were not 2.0?

I broke a tiny sweat when the disc I burned w/the bare-bones native burning 7 has didn't play. I then burned w/ImgBurn and this temporary issue took place. I was thinking all those flics in my 1TB HDD were useless/messed up some how. After a successful burn w/ImgBurn and inserting the disc to see what was up, everything was fine. IDK what WMP does during their burning process that won't let the disc play back in my own PC on the same OS. So much for the quick experiment.

Thnx for the info on the Driver update sw. The OS doesn't always update as it's suppose to, and one still has to be careful of automatically updating drivers w/out 1st seeing if any issues arrived such as the recent Nvidia GPU incident.

  18. Idk if that's good or not or what that actually means. Though the original file is read by ImGburn and burned By ImgBurn I think. I know. Fab was part of the process. Funny WMP will play discs burned using ImgBurn and prolly any other burning app., but today outta haste/curiousity/laziness I used Windows built in burner and after it wouldn't play the disc. Also I haven't seen ImgBurn in the contextual menu like before. Though when I put in the disc I just burned w/ImgBurn the menu listed Read w/ImgBurn. Guess after 1st use it'll add itself to the contextual menu?

Btw are any of those Uniblue products any good? I would presume they would be if Lightning gives options to use. I don't have a issue w/any product as long as it's good. I don't like adding toolbars etc... though. So long as the app. doesn't mess w/the PC after denying/not opting for anything it's all good. Some apps. will mess w/you even after not wanting their suggested stuff.

For those that got used to the free lunch I wouldn't make too much of it. Nothing's free and you get what you pay for. So if at any point it goes on the market I'd have no problem.

That said it was MS Essentials I think that was running a scan I never scheduled but was scheduled by default. Turned that off. Maybe change to some other time.

Let me know what that Graph says about anything if you would.

    Thnx Cynthia.

  19. Some virus scanning or other stuff that could have happened at the same time you burned?

    Can you upload this file

  20. Just tried twice to burn this .iso which was originally created by ImgBurn last 5. version. Wouldn't go past the indicated speed as shown by log. DMA was shown to be ok. HDD is not defragmented. Here's the log: Thnx.

  21. I'm not a software guru and I'll even admit to not having all the answers, because if I did I'd be a trillionaire. I must agree 100% though that 64 bit will soon be standard. That bit about loads of time I'm not buying 1 bit, and when it comes to computers no one should. This whole genre of ours is a one day here's what's in, and another day here's the new in and here's what's out. So it's not a matter of when rather than it's coming and pretty quick too.

I haven't any issues whatsoever w/ImgBurn running on my 7 x64 Home, and whether or not it will improve in performance is a mood point. Bottom line is that you either pay now or pay later. Everyone's going to pay though. So from a business perspective which I usually always look at everything since it's the most practical way of doing so, I'd wouldn't wait too long to go x64 or at least have a 64 bit version. R&D not permitting it as of yet is of course reasonable. No money no honey. Or is it hunny? :)

Otn, I just wouldn't like to see ImgBurn go the way of many other non-supported softwares that were excellent and useless today. I've run many burning copying apps., even one that was given free because of a question I pointed out that never was asked, and still Imgburn reminds me to stop wasting my time w/them. Reason being that whether or not they have different features, if the damn thing isn't compatible w/my PC than it's useless. ImgBurn never worked because of incompatibility, or some other crazy bug causing my system to go bonkers.

I'll ride it till it hits the beach like the saying goes. Hopefully it will take it's time to reach shore or never will.

  22. Excuse the late response. I'll get around to some of these suggestions asaic. Meanwhile I'll look into WMP's ripping/burning which I think can convert to .mp3 format. That would work as I can save all converted files that I want and then use ImgBurn to .cue them and burn as well. :)

I'm not well informed about CDDA stuff and headers yet so that to is on my to learn list.

  23. I've used EAC for years but only on XP and not with x64 anything, sorry... having said that, this page may help with any incompatibilities you may face (if I understand correctly it may be best on Win 7 to install it somewhere other than the usual Program Files directory).

Yes it converts as well, the configuration wizard gives you the option of setting up for MP3 if you wish.

You might want to take a look through this guide to the various EAC options for a better understanding of the program, including compression options if you'd prefer a different format.

    http://wiki.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php?title=EAC_configuration

Edit: You should be able to download it safely from RareWares if you're still having problems.

    .

This is exactly what I'm trying to avoid. Temporary fixes that just don't really work. If it's having compatibility issues then it's just not compatible. No sweat.

What I meant about ImgBurn not being able to create a audio file, I meant not being able to create a original audio file from a original audia file. ie: it will not make a .cue of a .cda file, only other formats. That's why I use another program to rip my music to mp3s for instance, delete what I don't want and continue until I have what I do want. Then I'll load up ImgBurn to make a .cue file of the mp3s that will be able to be read by my DJs equipment. We discovered it read .cue files a while back, so it was a real time saver. You see a lot of DJ equipment unless way top of the line will only read audio files. Just so happens his recorder or w/e reads the .cue files w/the titles and everything.

Now to FF. If they were so real, which I love it when they're working, then they would of kept up w/7 way back since the RC came out. Almost a year now. Lightning did it asap. So, I'll be using IE 8 until FF is definitely stable. No problem. I find my download speeds etc... are more stable w/IE 8. Uncle Bill is not that bad. He just doesn't like anyone else to join the party. :)

Now I'm installing apps. 1 at a time until they pass compatibility before I go and activate this OS. So far ttytt, only real stable apps. I have are Fab, ImgBurn, MS Essentials, and I'm seeing if The new Acronis True is causing any issues. I could live w/these for now. Worst case scenario I'll just use WMP to delete the audio files I don't want and ImgBurn to create the .cue files. ImgBurn converts WMA files to .cue I believe so that's fine if needed.

On installing EAC, there's several posts on how AV proggies will show it as Cynthia and I mentioned because of some adware proggies w/in. They say if you uncheck them it will definitely ring a alarm. Softpedia has this posted.

Excuse the delay in responding, I have to go to control panel here and adjust the reply feature. Just read it in my email. Had all you guys' replies since last time I checked I only saw Cynthia's.

  24. Doesn't Exact Audio Copy (EAC) work?

Hi Lightning. I just now tried downloading it 4 times. 7 x64 will not let me download it saying it's a threat to my computer. Any suggestions? I also thought this was pay for software. Let me know. I'm using MS Essentials and have been able to download everything else. Thnx.

Also this converts as well? ImgBurn will not make .cue files of pure audio files if I'm correct. it'll .cue all other formats.
