[Fully compatible 7 x64 CD ripper/converter]

Hi. Happy New Year to all. I need a fully compatible 7 x64 Home CD Ripper/Converter so I can use when compiling/condensing my music so then ImgBurn can .cue the files. Fully compatible. Not issue free. Not I haven't experienced any issues. Compatible, tried and tested as ImgBurn is. I used CDex in the past, but I installed it recently and I don't think it's fully compatible. Issues during installation. I think WMP can maybe work to edit then throw the remaining files into the Playlist or w/e so ImgBurn can .cue them. I'm not sure 100% though. MP3 is best and/or quickest. That way I just delete w/e and then just let ImgBurn do the rest. Freeware is always appreciated, but if nothing really compatible then I'll buy something that is fully compatible. I've done some searching, but a lot of freeware still stuck on XP, Vista etc... No not everything Vista is 7 compatible. Been there. Especially x64 7. Thanks.

Sorry, I should have said that it'll only moan if the ISO is a double layer one (over 4.37GB or whatever) and there's an MDS file present with the same name as the ISO (apart from the extension obviously).

 

As I mentioned earlier though, by default the program will only make the MDS for sub 1GB images and double layer ones... so it's odd that you get no moaning (unless they're all under 1GB or are double layer and under 4.37GB)

 

Most flics are about 1 and 1/2 hrs. and above. The ISO doesn't compress the actual size at all correct? I mean the actual size of the video when converted will be the size displayed by the ISO correct?

Well I burned about 5 videos using the queue, and there was no moaning. Maybe the queue doesn't moan, and accepts the ISO that way.

Oh Ok. The .iso's were all over 1GB and prolly all over 2gbs to standard single disc size. By <1gb you mean smaller than or greater than? It's been a while in the math area. Lol... I think you mean less than 1gb. Let me know. I have no idea about DAEMON Tools, but if it's not bothering I'll keep the .MDS file. When I burn w/ImgBurn though, I should always choose the .iso w/the larger file size correct? Thnx.

The fact that it made one in the first place tells me there's a reason for it.

 

Can you ditch your 'Interests' or at least cut them down please?! The column on the left (under your avatar) is stupidly long because of them and that just makes your posts seem large and mainly empty!

 

1 file is 5kbs. and it's a .mds file. The other is the .iso file w/the actual image size and content I guess. I don't recall this happening before.

 

I'll cut out the interests thing. Seems this started when the new updated format for the forum kicked in. Had the same thing since day 1. Thnx.

I just noticed on my storage drive of .iso's that for some images I have 2 entries. 1 says Disc Image File, and the other 1 says Disc Image. Obviously the 1 w/the most content is the movie. Now do I need the other smaller image file w/the same name there to act as reference when burning the .iso? Or can I erase it? I know when creating a .cue file that the bin file is there to act as a reference so that it can be pointed to so that you can burn it. At least I think that's the way it works. These .iso's were created mostly from discs using ImgBurn.

Is it plugged directly on the computer? i.e. no USB hubs/etc. Have you tested it with HD Tune or similar benchmarks?

 

 

The Docking Station is a Thermal Take and it's plugged into a usb port for the transfer and connection to the PC. The station is plugged into a electrical power surge. I will run a test w/WD diagnostics and Google HD Tune. I've had no issues w/other drives in the docking station. The others are WD's and a Hitachi though. I'll see what's up w/the diagnostics. I wonder if the backup process via F&b resulted in a not so clean copy for some.

Yeah, it's good to use a different drive for things (must be a different physical drive of course, not just a partition!).

 

It just might be an issue burning from the drive if you're downloading to it or something at the same time.

 

8x is harding going to push a hdd (sub 10mb/s where modern hdds can average 80 or 90+) so there must be an actual reason for it being so slow and causing buffer recovery to kick in. Defragging is certainly the place to start.

 

 

The F: drive is a separate drive and I have it in my docking station via usb. I use it for storing all my video and music and some pics etc... I also use it to actually backup the flic so I won't have to copy and paste it from another destination to the F: drive. So you're saying that the backing up on it is ok as long as I'm not burning w/ImgBurn at the same time, and vice versa? This is a Seagate and I did have to RMA it a while back. Maybe as you pointed out it is a issue w/the drive. I defragmented it already. I don't think the burners being ide would cause any issues correct? Guess you would of pointed this out. I'm using my Dell right now so it has the ide burners. My other builds have strictly sata drives.

PerfectDisk if you want to pay for it, Defraggler if not.

 

Leave the drive alone whilst it's defragging - do it overnight or something.

 

Thnx.You suggested to just use the drive for burning w/ImgBurn. That's really all I use it for except when to backup a flic and create a .iso. I use this drive and my other sorage drives as the destination target. Is that ok to continue, or is using, let's say the C: drive for all the work then just copying the flic over to the storage drive better? Reason I use another drive for the backup/copying/.iso is so there'll be less thrashing on the same drive due to bottle necking.

Defrag your F: drive any stop using it for anything else during the burn.

 

Lightning there's a lot of flics and music on my F: drive. Defragging it will take a very long time. What do you suggest as a defragmenter? One of the freebies like Defraggler? Or do I need to be careful not to delete anything during defragmentation? Let me know because I haven't defragged any of my storage drives. Thnx.

It was actually set to

I have individual speeds for each media code I use set for each burner.

 

Many times the 6x speed gives me the best results with Pioneers.

 

 

The 24x was set b4 for some cd burning i did. 1 ? why does the aws feature have speed selection for both the disc id and the burners? if set just to burners no matter what disc it will burn at that speed correct? also i don't think you can just set speeds for the discs id's w/out setting for the corresponding burner correct?

All your working burns (at least they burned ok) are made at 8x or 12x. The failed one is writing at 18x.

 

 

Hi Cynthia. I have no idea how it went to 18x though. As you saw everything was 8 n 12x. I will reset the auto write function again.

 

What do you guys suggest when setting the auto write function? Doing it by disc id or putting the burner to the id as well w/the write speed chosen? Thnx.

Ok. That's what I thought. I became so involved w/the .ibq files that I totally forgot that's all I had to do was give the .cue a given name letting me know what I put together. I think I also burnt some audio files as is w/ImgBurn. I'm almost sure I did some mp3's straight onto a cd-r and to mp3 format. I'll look over the guide again. Lot to cover. Thnx.

No not the IBQ file and burning those in order. I mean making a .cue file w/various songs from various artists and saving that for future copies. I now know that I would just have to make the .cue file w/all the songs I want and name it something so I know that's the 1 w/all the different songs/genre etc...

 

Btw I just burned a cd-r of a .cue file and it showed up as a audio file when I opened up the disc in my drive. ImgBurn makes straight up audio files now? I thought closest was wave file.

Oh ok. I didn't know this. I thought it was a function to save like a set a files that you could load at will at any time and burn. That way you have all of them in a .ibq in a set order so you won't have to search through the cue files and make another .ibq like the last one. You know, sometimes you want to go back and burn lets say a cd for a friend w/a certain list of songs, so you just go to the .ibq and it'll be there saved.

 

I guess there's a project manager which I've seen/read about that serves that purpose? Or is that a temporary fix to a current burning session as well? Thnx. If the project saves certain files as long as you want to be burned whenever then that's what I've been looking for and have misconstrued the .ibq as affording that option.

Hi Lightning. Yes my system shows all files and they even show up in the window that you click open to put them in the Queue. It'll only load 1 queue at a time and erase previous 1 if I add another 1 to be able and burn more files. So if the .mp3's are no longer around then the .cue files made of them are no use for the queue either?

 

It'll only load any saved queues w/the load queue button? Why can't I open up the .ibq file just by selecting it in the queue window? It's a supported file. Also I can't load but 1 saved queue at a time? This can't be as different music files are saved according to their genre. I'm thrown off by this.

 

Ok I read the guides which just say what the setting will do, and no where does it mention being able to load several .ibq files at a time. I threw my whole saved queue folder I have saved in my external drive and it will only load the same 1 and not all saved queues in it. So what's suggested? Burn 1 queued file at a time instead of having all files there ready to burn and put on discs? The purpose of the queue is to be able to load as many files as you want so you can burn them w/out having to go open the window again and insert more files correct? Hi I saved a couple of queues to the .ibq file format, and now that I want to load and/or open them I get a "Invalid or unsupported image file format!" "Reason: 1st Image file part is less than 2048 bytes in size." What's this all about? The saved queue files are in the same folder w/the .mp3's and .cue files. I don't know what's happening.

 

Also tells me files no longer exist or have been renamed. would I like to look in another location for the files. There isn't a other location.

Thnx Lightning. The Samsung's are very good drives. That's been the only quirk really that I noticed by way of the logs. No problems w/playback on DVDs or CDs. That .cue and Queue is a relief for lack of a better word. After organizing the files you want and saving the Queue. you're set.

 

 

Btw on the FASTREPLY is the cursor suppose to automatically appear in the reply window? Mine doesn't here. It does in DVF and the other forums.
