what are the buffers doing when this speed change is happening? the speed changes may be wopc kicking in. are these genuine verbatim discs?

you should be able to build a file up to 4gb using iso9660 and imgburn will burn it

you just need to have an ISO to burn , shrink can output an ISO just leave imgburn set to default for now

yes but by the sounds of it, the disc is finished, you can only write to them so many times and then they give up/die

have you run a chkdsk on your hard drive on the new machine? when burning on the new machine, how fast is it burning and what are the buffers in imgburn doing?

a log would help . are you sure you have a dvd burner and not a combo drive that reads dvd's but burns only cd's?

a log would help greatly here, but power calibration errors are usually bad media/firmware combination, a log might help confirm this

just to back up what volvo says, stick with verbatim for dual layer. you can burn their 2,4x rated discs at 8x and they still work - they really are that good. personally , i would steer clear of budget type p.c.'s . usually they have shared graphic cards and components that aren't up to much. you could probably assemble the p.c. with components you want in it for not too much more, dependant on you can assemble it yourself .

what speed did you burn it at? your result is a bit biased because there is no jitter shown and this can reduce the qs considerably
