Specifically, the manufacturer ID on the ones I got is [MCC 03RG20]--they just give me an "LBA out of range" error similar to what I posted above. I 23:03:35 Verifying Sectors... A Japanese date stamp? Cool~ Ahem! It appears that ImgBurn was told to cancel before it got to the verification process. I think so because of this set of lines: W 12:52:27 Waiting for device to become ready... I 12:58:15 Abort Request Acknowledged E 12:58:15 Device Not Ready - No Reference Position Found Did you hit the Cancel button? Beyond that, there's a long delay there, so perhaps ImgBurn timed out and automatically aborted, is the only other thing I can think of. Even so, though, try going into the Mode menu, then hit Verify (or hit CTRL+ALT+V). From here you can compare the disc against an ISO on your filesystem (SK-CD.mds' companion, in this case). So 4x might work better? Thanks, I'll give that a shot next time! It's kinda funny--immediately after I posted here, I tried again, and the burn completed OK. Bizarre. More bizarre, though, is that in searching I found "Datawrite Titanium" DVDR media (here) using the same manufacturer ID. Is this just TDK and them being careless in branding, or did something else happen? It's been quite sporadic with these discs. Case in point, the next burn. Different error, this time. Same cause? Though it is odd that it didn't start going 6x until about halfway through the burn. As to firmware, this drive doesn't seem to have any updates, though I may be looking in the wrong place.

This has been happening a lot with these TDK discs I have, but I can't understand why. There was an error popup that came up (but I since closed it--if something coasters again, I'll edit it in here), but basically... the discs appear to burn, then instantly fail when Validation starts with a "Check Condition" error.
