No because 4x is what you've already tried.

Notice that 2.4x is not even possible, hence the drive used 4x anyway.

I 18:18:18 Destination Media Sectors: 3,827,520

That disc seems to have been damaged in a previously failed burn

Anyway, I think it would be cheaper to get a new burner instead of wasting more Verbatim blanks.

I 19:05:29 Destination Device: [0:0:0] _NEC DVD_RW ND-3540A 1.01 (J:) (USB)

There's newer firmware for that burner if you want to try (remove any disc and close the tray before updating then reboot after it's finished). Also it may be better to try burning at 4x (or 6x if it becomes available after the firmware update), after all those are 8x rated blanks.

Oh, and put ImgBurn 2.5.0.0 back on

You're slick haha! I was typing my response before you posted this.

But yeah, tell us the results afterward. Now about that other drive, as mmavles said - either clean it or get new media. That drive might of ran out of life, or the lens might be dirty. Also you may have the same issue I did. My drive wouldnt work with certain types of media. You can either get Verbs or just buy a new drive like me.

Also for the first drive you posted try updating the firmware on that also. It's a re-bagged Samsung drive.

Now since samsung sucks I cant post you the exact link but go to this site: http://samsungodd.com/eng/ and on the top go to Firmware>Firmware Download and in the search type in "SH-S183L" without the quotes.

There is SH-S183L at FirmwareHQ.com, which is a mirror of all the oficial firmware updates from all different manufacturers.

Notice though that the official flasher won't allow you to crossflash your TS-H653L to SH-S183L: if you really want to do this unpack the official flasher with WinRAR/7-Zip and run sfdnwin.exe -nocheck then you'll be able to load the SB03 firmware for flashing ;)

Is it really okay if i change my current TS-H653L firmware to a SH-S183L firmware? What i mean to ask is if it is safe to do so and how will it effect my drive once it changes?

It's the same drive, its just different firmwares. If your current firmware doesn't do what you need it to do, whats the reason that stopping you? If you do it properly(make sure there is no media inside) everything will work fine. Just follow the instructions on the flasher.

Did you try updating firmware on that other drive? How did the burning go?

Bad news guys..i used up my very last verbatim blank, now i have none left. :'(

However my last verbatim managed to pull it off with my updated NEC drive and the mission was a success. :w00tdance:

Too bad i wasted my time on my quad cores drive instead of switching to my p4 drive

I've been reformating my computer so much i forgot to update the greatest thing of all..the dvd drive.

Now my beloved verbatims..you may rest peacefully. :)

Just remember folks..UPDATE your firmware before you end out of precious verbatims like moi.

Anyway thanks alot everyone :huggles: ..to think i was going to try clonecd..foolish me. :whistling:
