so i'm trying to burn an iso file onto my DVD-R discs but it keeps failing.

i look at the Destination bar and it says: [1:00] HL-DT-ST DVD+RW GCA-4040N (D:)

is the problem that it says "...DVD+RW..." in the destination? and if it is, how do i fix that? help please??

if i remember that old drive only writes to +R discs

maybe it doesnt like the RW discs you are using

post a log when you insert a +rw disc

oh my bad. its a DVD+R disc already. that was a typo :P

but i've tried 3 different types of DVD discs.

+R, -R, and -RW

and still none of them seem to work.

would you like a log for each of them?

actually, that's how it is for DVD-R, too. i can't even click the 'write' icon because its grayed out. and on the bottom bar it says "device not ready (medium not present - tray closed)"

Try Brand NEW RW media, assuming that you're using a disc that has been written to several times. Always make sure to use Verbatims, and if still no avail, purchase a new drive that supports OPC.
